Overseer sighs as he hears somebody's head come off. Then he continues pacing.

Brief update.  All of the hard work has been done.  Pat yourself on the back!  Oh, and, "welcome" to "Gary" (Coolrune206).  If you've given up your lockbox for now, then people looting your corpse will be able to retrieve your lockbox key.  Onward . . .

It doesn't take much convincing.  Dustan advances, armed with hand gestures, John and Durenadal ready behind him, and the ugly mugs start backing away.  They think to grab their lanterns, but make no move to recover dropped weapons, or, even, bodies.  Don't know if that means they'll be back . . .

Regardless, the three ugly mugs make various grunting sounds and vanish down the path where you'd first seen reinforcements arrive.  Ah, there's a long crevice in the wall back there, of course.

Overseer remains a safe distance away from this exchange.  And therefore unbloodied.

What next?

Told you it was quick!

Reminder: the other objects you see on the ground are an iron sword, iron halberd, and iron skull cap.  Then there's whatever's on the corpses and in the camp around the corner.  Frank's inventory is still in the first post until someone robs him (note that clothes and body armor are always considered "damaged" upon death).  Gimme actions.

strip the armor off the captain and wear it over my tunic. Go back to where I first spotted them and check the barrows I saw there.

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.

But do you wait around for John's lantern experiment first?

And I'll be back tomorrow.

Make a thorough list of everything the mugs had.

And anything from Overseer (FallacyofUrist), now that the combat seems to have settled down?

(Not much I can say to that . . . )

Finally alone (?), the group of three remains a moment to try out the soulshine lantern which Frank so kindly provided.  Always thinking for the future, that fellow.

John places the lantern near the recently dead.  You see a roiling cloud at its heart!  When struck with a spark, it flares with teal light!

Spoiler: Soulshine lantern (click to show/hide)

Strange ethereal forces are drawn from Frank's body, like fuel powering a flame.  The entire lantern seems to be consumed and transformed into light.  As you share in its glow, you feel stronger than ever.  That is, Dustan, John, and Durenadal all do.  Overseer was not invited.  Overseer is still in disbelief.

Anyway!

The show's over and the lantern's gone.  Now fortified, Dustan and Durenadal get to work on loot and a status report.

That sergeant's workstone chain mail is old and damaged, but Dustan tries it on.  . . . Oof!  You're overburdened!  Well, this is a bit much now, but you walk back over to the ugly mug campsite and take stock.

The wheelbarrows (marked with SALT, which John should recognize) are filled to the brim with slabs of rock salt, and dried cavereed is crammed around it all, probably for protection against damp.  One of them is missing a slab, which the ugly mugs must have been using in their salting.  Speaking of which, you observe two stacks of bug bat bird carcasses: one pile being salted, one set aside.

Durenadal takes careful count and finds:

Heck, I'll just be nice and post everyone's current inventory so you know where spare space is.  If you don't feel like looking too closely, drop it all in your empty wheelbarrow.

Spoiler: Dustan (Dustan Hache) (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: John (ziizo) (click to show/hide)

Dustan (Dustan Hache): you are 5 kg over your max.  That's the problem with chain mail, really, that you can't wear it AND be a pack mule, but you'll be pleased to know that being made of workstone means that this damaged stuff still gives you some protection.

Anyway, see your inventory above and consider tossing stuff into your wheelbarrow or dumping out water.  (If you don't, you can still walk around, but will suffer overexertion damage in combat.)

set my water barrel in my wheelbarrow. Grab frank's lockbox key and put his gear in my wheelbarrow ,moving the hematite to the other wheelbarrow. Depart, and don't touch anything the ugly mugs left behind.

You still have more people than wheelbarrows, despite recent events, so I'm sure you can sort it out.  I was expecting, in fact, that you'd have too much stuff to carry by now; looks like you've managed just fine.

Dustan: When you say "depart," where to?  Back to town with your winnings?

And everyone: I'll be busy these next few days with family and such.  See you in a bit!

Preferably. In all truth I just want to leave the area before they come back with more people.
