Seems to be everybody other than the keep-going-as-they-are people; namely, Dustan (Dustan Hache), Alyssa (Rautherdir), and Gary (Coolrune206).  And with that, it looks like . . .

ask for a blasting rod thing and stick it to the largest crack in the wall. You know. The one with the black lines on the map. The explosion should have burned all the flammable gas.

. . . won't be happening, as no one agreed.  The people with splitter wands are Dwain (Starver), Louis (dustywayfarer), and Tohil (randomgenericusername).  They seem to be busy, so if Bob (magmaholic) has an alternate plan then I could run with that instead.

Also, I'm about to be busy once more for a few days.  These things happen.

I don't think Tohil would be able to share a wand since he is too busy with faith problems.

. . . Because it doesn't make much sense in-universe?  Yeah, I'll stick with the "pointing-and-laughing" part.  It may be "crazy," but it's not crazy.

Red anthropomorphic hedgehog with a funni faec is not that unimaginable. In-universe? Screw the universe! I might as well make my next character Minmax DeeTwenny.

Hey, folks.  I'm back, but I'm also having some lingering issues with my computer that make it a real pain.  (UGH, OPERATING SYSTEM UPDATES.)  We're at a good pausing point, so I'll post the next turn when I'm sure I won't have to do any more backing-up of files or anything.

Of course I back up my game files.  Wouldn't want to lose the record of the bloodshed.

(In your own time. I've had worse happen to me, and it's good to see that you're taking the care that I occasionally failed to take.  ;))

And now I've had worse happen.  My custom tileset is erased.  I checked three backups I made over the last year, and none of them have the tileset.

I kept the maps, sure.  And from the exports of those I can copy-and-paste to get most things back.  But I had a good number of custom tiles you folks had never seen, and without an exported map of those there's no record.  I'm going to have to reassemble the whole thing before I can resume play.  Which is terrible, because I think my lost tiles looked pretty good after those days of fiddling, and I was going to put some of them into play after just a little more in-game time.

Once I've finished the grieving process, I might also take the opportunity to arrange the file better for efficient use.  I don't have to have REXPaint's UI use my custom tiles, but it amuses me, and it always was a little weird for "left pointy bracket, right pointy bracket" to be replaced with "left pointy bracket, three chunks of ore."

So.

Back in awhile.

Thanks, everybody.

I'm getting to use new and exciting information/features.  For one, that Tilesets page is really useful!  . . . Except when it isn't.  It informs me that the characters "↕" and "↔" aren't used in Dwarf Fortress, which is great because then I know I won't have to save them for rendering workshops and items.  They're fine to replace with custom tiles.  Right?

Not when my goal is to use my custom tileset for the font of the REXPaint UI itself.  The "paste" command can, optionally, flip your pasted content horizontally or vertically, and guess what tiles it uses to denote the current mode?  That led to an interesting situation where I had to ask myself "What paste modes are 'face carving' and 'stack of metal bars'?"

( . . . And now that sounds awesome.)

Next I'll need to use REXPaint's replacement tools to swap out the wrong icon for the right icon across every map I'm still using or likely to use soon.  Never did that before.  I wonder if batch processing's possible somehow.

But at least I think I have basic tiles ready again.  I've backed it up.  Quick: anybody need me to sprite up a tile-able kitty image or anything?

Edited P.S.: If that seems like fast turnaround to you . . . well, technically I took a walk today.

Edited P.P.S.: Okay, wow, I'm creeping myself out.  I had to update the tile used on the left and the right in the forge workshop image, and those look kinda like eyes.  As I hit undo and redo, the thing's eyes flicker toward and away from me.
