So at this point I'm waiting on Dwain (Starver) to see if he has any particular input.  I presume that Dustan (Dustan Hache) is just watching the show.  Overseer (FallacyofUrist), as established, is away from the group, and you'll see I've removed Durenadal (HugeNerdAndProudOfIt) from the active player list completely.

Back tomorrow!  After that, though, I'll probably be away for the next week or something.  It's actual honest-to-goodness time off, which inevitably means being even more occupied than the rest of the time.

(Writing this from a tent. Rained a lot, yesterday..  ;) )

It seems to me that the A-Team here knows what they're doing, or thinks they do... It'd be nice to follow-up on the not-hostile villagers, but right now I probably need to follow Hannibal, or maybe it's BA (keeping Murdoch in sight would be good too... )

To any alchemist/villager who isn't busy "Please excuse me a moment, I think I'm needed. Perhaps we'll talk more soon" (oh so tempted to do a "Fear not citizen! We shall slay your fearsome foes!" speech, but neither my character nor my self are quite so sure this is going to be the epitome of unvarnished success). Less concerned about being backstabbed than having to deal with ambushes from a stirred-up nest give back-up to the advanced guard, in particular there's probably cracks we might pass.

(On the way through the workshop, is there anything useful, do you think? Handfuls of healthstone, maybe useful as distractions if thrown (or making me a target whilst carried... is this part of the smell thing?), or a random glass vial. I'm not going to steal anything, because I'm not even taking it out of the basement...  Obviously would be a snap decision, given time constraints, and maybe there's nothing but broken glass, if I could even work out how to not cut myself by carrying it. So maybe just err on caution, and trust to the hammer and pickaxe).

Previous -- Next

Just a little going on today.  Let's make it happen!

There is conversation.  John walks carefully across the glass-strewn floor and approaches the breach.  The entrance might fit a person with some effort, but . . . with the now-familiar BOOM! a splitter wand wipes an obtrusive column right out of the way.

As the dust settles, the view reveals a cramped space with suspicious and uneven footing.  Tunnels go in more than one direction, and you think you see a slope down in the distance.  You tense for a flood of danger . . . !  Only to come to your senses and realize that not only is the space clean of any living creature, but also of any living creature's food or filth.  The only marks are the dry and shiny trails, which, by your estimation, are approximately everywhere.

The full group is downstairs now.  Dwain sneaks by Dustan's shoulder looking for usable tools.  All the glass equipment seems to have been broken, long-sinced knocked to the floor.  There's glowstone, sure, and some metal bars left untouched, but it's all looking hopeless until you come across a weird greenish candle high on a shelf.  There's a colored mark on the side as though . . . something happens when it burns to that point.  The mark is pretty close to the top.

Dustan (Dustan Hache): you saw these items once before.  They are called unwise candles, and the Halfway House had them for sale.  I'm telling you this because he's right next to you, so see the special equipment list if you want to tell him what you know.

And, everyone, I'll be heading out tomorrow.  If I get enough responses and enough time, I'll try to update before then, and it should work out as a . . . moderately-acceptable pausing point if necessary.

Walk down the tunnels with everyone else. (Assuming everyone else will be walking down the tunnels as well.)

"leave their crap alone. You don't know what it does, and I already see items we don't want to mess with. Besides, you don't walk into someone's house on a extermination job to take their belongings, so move it."
into the breach. Find where these tunnels lead. Dig if I have to.

Start exploring north tunnel that doesn't have the slope

Not much to do but follow on behind this must be what they were doing in the first encounter, whilst I was testing the darkness of the cavern (and possibly its resilience, vs bodily extremities).

I'll definitely not touch the ore, nor the metal. They'd be of no use, anyway. I've already got a blunt lump of matter. With a handle, even.

I'm back!  Now I could use a response from Ragnarok (PaPaj), and I'll be able to make an update.

(The response could be as simple as "I go into the tunnels too"; but John (ziizo) was specific about even that, so I wait.)

Okay, cool, I'm swamped with back-to-work tasks but hope to have time for fun soon.

Previous -- Next

(This entire month is going to be very busy.  But all this wackiness is fun, so hopefully I can keep it updating regularly as my relaxation time.  And today's wasn't so complicated . . . )

You pass beyond the threshold.  The odors of alchemy fade behind you, replaced with the cloying sweetness of vanilla.  The air is saturated with it; yet the air has slight movement, as though there were other outlets down here.  The shiny trails converge into two wide paths split down the two directions to the north and northeast.

John, in the lead, keeps to the high ground which goes northeast (-ish).  Another slope opens up to your left.  At the same time, you find a nearly-impassable crevice in the northeast, which apparently ends in more tunnels sloping both up and down.  The other exiles trailing behind you will be by your side in a moment.

What's this?

Found them!  Down the slope on your left, you see several slowly-scuttling shapes.

(It occurs to me that we could be down here for awhile.)

Go down the westmost tunnel and attack them from another angle.
