Koi scoops up Espada and bolts to cover, before sitting down and exuding a small barbed tendril from his wrist and jabbing it into Espada's side.
Repair Systems: Route Unit Espada's local material reserves through Unit Koi's local nanofac. Prioritize Critical Systems Damage in Unit Espada. Secondary Priority, reboot Consciousness in Unit Espada.
Espada's autonomous systems register depleted reserves. But this contradicts previous reports. Material distribution systems must be offline. Among other things. Cells and nanites over a good portion of the body have probably been fried. You fear you may have to inject a portion of your own nanite complement and attempt manual reboot, though whether or not there is time at the moment represents a tactical decision. The reptilian creature rolls into cover next to you, carrying Avi.
"Still alive?"Titus keeps up his momentum and sprints towards the last two, sending smaller waves of plasma at their upper-most stalks, making sure to try to stay out of their firing arcs.
Despite your being closer, one of the things takes time to fire several shots towards the rocks where your comrades have taken cover, creating a number of explosions and a large cloud of dust.
"ABNORMAL ENERGIES DETECTED!"Your honed tactical brain and your suit computer work split-second as you fight. They have very strong shields, it seems, but they are less concentrated around the top. They aren't overly slow but their design is clearly not the best suited for such close quarters: they'll have trouble hitting you if you can close the distance. Which is good, because their weapons seem quite powerful.
You keep slinging plasma at them in hopes of forcing them to keep their guards up and preventing counterattack. With your overcharge rapidly fading, their shields seem able to soak the smaller waves for the most part, but one in your burst comes through and strikes the eyestalk from the next nearest one. It starts screeching and turns its weapons away from your companions, but that overcharge helped with your speed as well: before it can fire, you thrust forth with your sword, fully enveloped in plasma. On impact, the enemy's shields discharge and it is repelled backwards. You notice a dent on the frontal plate of its chasis, between the two arms.
"MY SENSORS ARE IMPAIRED! COMPENSATING!"The other one seems to take notice of your proximity and success.
"ELEVATE!"...Actually...Could I send feedback down their weapons as they try to shoot?
Explosions!!!
...Also, I thought I had set up a contingency spell. Trigger that?
Their weapons just have too much energy for you to control. There's just too much "inertia" (for lack of a better word) towards the energy flowing down its intended path. You do trigger your spell, and can feel your energy flowing into them at a steady rate: they seem to detect this and start doing something to pump energy away from their living cores, but you can feel they're only slowing it down. However, somehow they also seem to guess the culprit: those damn
loud beams start hammering your cover, and it doesn't seem like the rock you're behind will last very long.
