Diluvion....a postapocaliptic submarine adventure
« on: February 13, 2017, 06:25:38 pm »

or something like that it seems. the game is set to release on march 2 of the current year (according to the wiki, not really sure) but people had kickstarted it before so i thing it's well known by now.

the game is about exploration and survival underwater, it has a 2D painted component inside of ships (crew management i think, sort of like space privateers or FTL) and a 3D component for navigation and combat. its weird but the way the mix both styles is wonderfull.

the survival component seems to be mostly about food and oxygen, which is expected. and you can also create an underwater base. it seems to be story driven but with open navigation.

i've never played a submarine game but this seems promising. i missed on Aquanox when i was a kid so this should be a good experience i guess.

The reviews don't seem to recommend it.  Seems that it looks pretty but lacks substance.

I tried it...

I REALLY do not recommend it.

The screen shots certainly make it look cooler than it actually is... and ODDLY enough... it feels firmly unfinished.

The game is alright but poorly thought out. The combat is either extremely easy or impossible, with no in-between. Some of the mechanics are really odd as well. Also apparently there is an upgrade-able headquarters that you can add modules on to. How do I know that? I randomly and accidentally docked there. Nothing in the game thus far tells you this, but you dock up and pay a small fee and suddenly you have a home base.

Also everyone wants to kill you! Though I am not sure why.

Well there are SOME neutrals out there. Traders, city guards, some refugees. Most of the hostiles are pirates and the like.

Yeah but there is no limitation on where the Pirates are or allowed to roam. I've certainly been attacked near or within cities.

So it feels more like everyone is out to kill you except for people who specifically don't.

The honestly thought my main adversary would be the ocean itself, but apparently the ocean belongs to pirates.

I would hang around cities and let the guards kill a few pirates so I could swoop in and dock with their wrecks for loot. Had flashbacks of the old game Hardwar where I would do the same near known criminal spots and scoop up salvage for easy sale
