I am still pretty new to the game, but in the short time I have played this game, I have had this memorable, albeit, spinning out of control moment.
Dateline: Rogue Wave from Underground River Kills Most; Lizard Men Kill Rest
- Film at 11
Entering their second year, the dwarves were peaceful and dutiful. The farming was beginning, due to the discovery of an underground river. A room for irrigation and planting was being set up....
All of a sudden a ROGUE WAVE literally flooded my entire fortress and almost all the way to the river in a matter of seconds. Two dwarves made valiant efforts to pull a floodgate switch, but both were like lemmings to the slaughter and drowned in their brave attempts. Survivors were fleeing for the flooded ground outside and a place to gather their wits about them. This was not to last.
Riding the waves of this aquatic force of destruction was a Lizard Man Death squad that jumped out as my 3 remaining guys are marooned on logs and workshops. LizardMen systematically my remaining dwarves and all animals. My "War" dogs were of no match. Unable to pull any kind of lever to stop the flood, the fortress was abandoned as the metalsmith and another peasant who were coming to join in the early-summer were struck down by the still roaming lizardmen.
I am a horrible omnipotent being. I'm like Bender in that episode of Futurama. I mean well, but bring death and destruction in the wake of my intentions.
