I've adopted daggers/warhammer as my weapon loadout. Daggers will literally endless combo a single target to death, while warhammer does great damage is large sweeps to multiples.

Greatsword was my favorite weapon at low levels. Wide sweeps hit everything around for massive damage. Very new-player friendly.

Later though, I came to appreciate Axe as the most OP weapon in the game. The opening heavy attack lunges forwards quickly, making an excellent opener. Follow with a quick attack to stagger them, then chain two heavy attacks to finish the combo. If you are moving you can immediately start another combo(this works with all weapons) so just repeat until the enemy dies. Most single enemies will never have a chance to fight back, and the swings are wide enough to hit clustered groups of enemies simultaneously if needed. If things do get messy, just joust with the heavy opener.

I've been fond of the pike myself. Stab in the face, stab in the face, dodge. A 3-hit heavy-heavy-light combo creates a pretty wide sweep for groups.

If you just do repeated double heavy attack with the pike (click-click, short pause, click-click) you can keep a large number of enemies stun locked with the pike.  If you go full combo you have a short gap at the end that leaves you open and you have to dodge.  If you never finish the combo you can attack fast enough with hits that stagger to never leave an opening.

I leveled using daggers and don't regret that - they stack bleed faster than anything else, so if you're fighting something stronger than you bloody hit-n-run is very viable. Their light attacks are quite good for closing and pursuit as well. Also, in my experience and for no good reason, they're the best weapon for fighting crocs. I remember more than a few times sub-20 when 4 or 5 crocs jumped me at once while I had stone or iron daggers. Poor crocs...

At 60, though, I'm a huge fan of spears for reasons others have mentioned.

Playing an hour or so at a time, grinding materials as best I can. Only now getting started on the top floor of the main keep. I can make maybe 18-20 or so building pieces per resource run. Each resource run consists of mining 500-600 ironstone, dropping it off in to 4-5 furnaces, cutting ~800 wood, dropping that off at a carpenter's bench to turn it all into shaped wood, getting the iron out and into 3 forges for reinforcements, mine 800-900 stone, drop that in the furnaces, collect from the 40 fish traps, drop those into the fluid presses(I needed another to handle all that fish), then collect all the brick, shaped wood, and whatever iron reinforcements the forges produce in the meantime(about half the queue) to build.

When I'm done with the keep, I'm probably going to admin-mode the rest of the construction I have planned. I've been at this keep for weeks.

I checked the weekend usage (for all players) on the server and its been quite consistent. This weekend was about the same as last weekend:

5/19: 19 players / 92 hours
5/20: 21 players / 100 hours

5/26: 23 players / 96 hours
5/27: 26 players / 97 hours

6/02: 22 players / 89 hours
6/03: 20 players / 73 hours

6/09: 19 players / 87 hours
6/10: 21 players / 78 hours

I built a little temple to Deketo very near the starting desert area on a little island.  Everyone is welcome for...um...orgies I guess? I suppose there is also some crafting benches and dubious architecture (angles!)

On the main server I play on, I spent a couple hours attending a diplomatic meeting with our clan's main rival/neighbor. They spent a lot of time humblebragging about their riches and were trying to leverage a minor accidental border violation into a renegotiation of part of our treaty into a much more one-sided affair. Long story made short, we hold the Highlands sans the cliffsides above New Asagarth, while they hold the Frozen North. From the Mounds/Eyelet Lake westward is a large neutral zone giving them access to the Mounds and a route to the desert that doesn't intrude on our territory, and us access to black ice.

They were trying to force us into a disadvantageous relationship where they kept all access but we had to mine brimstone to trade to them for black ice. Thankfully the clan head let me step in when he got tired of arguing and I managed to shut that down. We also managed to finagle not entirely terrible deals for access to the Black Keep and Frost Temple, and sensible handling of future border disputes + pursuit of unaffiliated nomads through each others' lands.

The real beautiful bit was waking up to a discord message from the admin letting us know that he'd been looking through logs and discovered that a dude in the other clan had been using admin powers to spawn in a shitload of stuff for them, and that he was now banned and all their stuff was deleted. Feelsgoodman. I love this game.

Has anyone on the Fleetwood server recently lost a bunch of random stuff? I don't want to say my stuff got stolen, because I've got a lot of valuable stuff that's still there and my house was sealed, but it seems like a lot of very specific stuff that's gone.

Are you talking about orbs? Orb stockpiles got wiped with the last patch as a response to duping exploits. I lost about 100 I'd pack-ratted myself.

(Dunno if there was anything other than orbs that got eliminated as a counter to possible dupe origins - regardless of actual origins - but I know they were hit. The patchnotes were annoyingly vague.)
