@Piecewise
Is the Lexicon game part of the Digverse, or are they just thematically similar?
I'm crowdsourcing the backstory of Dig~

I was under the impression that it was, unless I misunderstood the implication.

Yeah note tilde

Also that would just be kinda boring. And nobody else seems to be going near dig stuff at all, apart from the underground thing.

Eh, I'm operating under the assumption that this IS Dig, if it shouldn't be, I'll stop/amend my entry, I wanted to go more towards developing actual Dig stuff. Also, I'm not fully aware of what tilde is supposed to mean, so maybe I missed something important in the context.

So... what happens when book one finishes? Are you going to use it as a setting?
I certainly might. A game set in a B12 collective fiction setting would be pretty neat, me thinks.
At the same time, consider this. Implies that this isn't for Dig.

I'll just see what Piecewise says about the post, I he wants me to remove the more obvious Dig references, I will.

Erm... that will still make little sense to somebody who hasn't read the backstory of DIG.

Also, while I realise this is an anyone-can-contribute thing, do we really want to make something just to prop up the setting of DIG that PW never intended to create, rather than make something new and different?

I mean, PW's ideas are good and all, but they're just one guy's mechanics-driven flavour for a forum game. While at least seven people have brought their imaginations to bear on this already. Perhaps we should poll on this or consult the other players, rather than work in elements of what is (from the stuff written so far) an entirely different fictional universe. If, perhaps, someone tried to shoehorn in 40k plot elements, I think the other people contributing might feel equally in need of consultation beforehand.

I have no idea what DIG is, and in my opinion it shouldn't matter in a self-contained work. I'll be writing (somewhat) original text, but if you want to reference something, go ahead. Understand that others might derail it with their own original ideas or even references to other works, though. Perhaps this Deepsea isn't what you think it is...

Its a bit of a toss up. I used a line from the intro to DIG as the topic, but there's no reason you have to stick to what you've seen in dig or anything really.

If he wants to use stuff from dig, thats fine. If you guys want to then turn it into stuff it totally isn't in dig, thats also fine.  As Icytea said, Perhaps Deep sea isn't what you think it is; after all, he isn't going to be the one defining it.

I'd really prefer we just keep Dig stuff out, and not take even names from it.  It holds connotations and meanings for those of us who are familiar with the setting, and even if the entries are written in an entirely different fashion, the connotations can confuse things.

Two things I've seen as I get the next turn ready:
1. Remember, two phantoms only. NJW has like 4 in his post. I took the first two.
2. Remember that you have to cite BACK at an earlier post along with your two posts. Specifically one made by someone else. Gentle didn't do that, or he forgot to mark it.
