Name: Luna Veridium
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Planet of Origin: Hub
Skills: +15% Growth from Pupil, Preferred Weapon, TBD depending on points used.
Physical Description: Luna has somewhat disheveled light-blue hair, and eyes of the same color. She tends to wear cloth or leather armor, or just clothing, when doing field-research, rather than the robes most mages favor - she's always found them far too cumbersome. This outfit tends to be purple, as it's her favorite color. Luna has pale skin.
Backstory: Luna is a Pupil of the Mage Academy, a prodigy in the art. When she was young, her family was destitute - they lived on the streets of the Hub, unable to find work and much of what money they got ended up feeding her father's addiction to the bottle. Luna was forced to grow up fast. She didn't beg for money - she was far too proud for that - she worked instead, doing whatever odd jobs she could find to keep the family alive.
Luna was thirteen when one of these odd jobs led to her salvation. A high ranking mage took pity on the young street rat, paying her to clean his study for him - he'd do it himself, but he never had the time these days. She was happy to oblige, but when she took a break something happened. She read a book, that she'd assumed was normal... until she accidentally cast from the spellbook, causing magic to lash out around her. The mage, Abram, was at first furious - until he realized the girl, with no magic training, had cast a spell.
Abram sponsored Luna's entrance exam, allowing her to take it despite lacking the funds to pay. The testers had assumed he'd taken pity on some street rat who had a little magic potential, snickering as the disheveled girl caked in muck and dressed in rags entered the testing hall. A few felt pity that she was going to have her hopes crushed. And they had to pick their jaws up from the floor when she crushed the entrance requirements.
While Luna struggled in some things - she had never received a preliminary education, unlike some other initiates - she had a natural talent and drive to improve that allowed her to keep up with her peers. Throughout her time in the academy, she usually kept her history to herself. The others would look down on her if she was homeless, and she could not stand the very thought of it. She had some trouble in the academy, lacking the preliminary education of many initiates, but her natural talent allowed her to keep up rise to the Pupil rank. She's on the cusp of becoming a Practitioner, and being able to repay the debt she has to the academy.
Luna is a prideful young woman, who is aware of her strengths and quite happy with them - although they could be better, and she makes a point to practice daily. She is quick to anger when her buttons are pushed - do not look down on her, or on her family, or on her friends, if you want to stay in one piece. She tries to keep in a lighthearted mood, although her sense of humor is rather dark. While her family still does not live well, after her entrance to the academy and her father leaving (and taking his alcoholism with him) they’ve managed to get off the street.
Luna has some kind of powerful tome, much stronger than one would expect of a mere Pupil. She bluntly refuses to say where she got it from.
