Has the Diagnosis skill or job changed?
« on: February 02, 2017, 12:46:39 pm »

My patients are rarely getting cleaned.  Once out of maybe ten visits to the hospital.

The hospital has buckets and soap, and everything else.  A fresh water well is thirty four steps away, zoned as a water source, and borders a stocked soap stockpile.  Theres surplus buckets floating around the fort.  My single diagnostician has one point in the skill, is the chief medical dwarf, and has strong diag attributes.  All hospital beds are in tiles that are Inside/Light/AboveGround, which never get cleaned, but one patient in a bed there got cleaned once.

The one cleaning that happened was almost a fluke.  A patient came in for six major procedures, left, later came back for a crutch and got a soapy happy ending.  Good for him but infections are setting in elsewhere.

Am I doing something wrong?

Not that I know of. I've never had an above ground hospital, and my chief medical dwarf is always given all medical jobs.
I know there was a bug that caused all incessant cancellation spam when the only free buckets were the ones assigned to the hospital: apparently they were for emergency use, so they wouldn't be used for hospital care... I don't think this bug has been fixed, but you're not suffering from it either.

I just had 3 patients enter the hospital.  Two got cleaned and one didn't... who quickly got an infection.  I guess its just a roll of the dice.  After diagnosis the procedures needed list got filled, and cleaning just wasnt in there.

You could set up a manual cleaning system that briefly floods the hospital, perhaps.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

IIRC cleaning (dwarf or otherwise) is fairly low priority, plus you need to enable patient care (or whatever it's called - ie have nurses), but I may well be wrong: how busy is your CMD & do you have any other medical staff?

It was the cleaning procedure that wasnt showing up on the dwarf's health list, after an initial diagnosis.  E.g. no "clean patient" but plenty of "needs suture," "needs dressing," etc.  And everyone has the nurse labor enabled.  When the labor showed up on the list, it was performed.

I kinda lost track of how often it happens now.  A reanimated goblin siege sent 15 people to the hospital and made an equal amount mad.  Ive got bigger problems now.
