I didn't double check any of this but I'd guess that the people who were put on home release for covid were probably older people due to being at elevated risk from the virus, and probably there were distinctions like non violent crime and risk of rescidivism being found to be low.

In my state not so long ago the Republicans were leading the way on reducing the prison population by closing prisons. This was because at some point it made the news that the corrections department were doing things such as delaying mandatory for release to parole programming by a private contracter who was paid during the waiting period for years sometimes which with other policy filled the prisons. It's not such a one-party thing. Prisons cost a lot of money to run and that means taxes.

I can't help but to think the sightings of drones near New Jersey are part of a larger false flag operation designed to give trump a reason to declare martial law because "we are under attack". I still think trump needs that war to get many of the powers he and his minions desire.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

This kind of crap is the direct effect of the "X is the new mainstream media now." propoganda campaign. You will see much more of that in... everything...  Idiotic rumors spread by morons (or bad actors) will be treated as facts. And it will get people killed. Like, I won't be surprised if someone will shoot down a Cesna or a paraglider
I don't know how you got to that quote from what I posted...

My concern is that a hysteria will be created that will allow legislation to be created as soon as Trump gets into office, legislation that would give some police-state powers to trump's administration. Look at what happened in Georgia in March 2023 and May 2024 with that "foreign agents" law (I don't remember what events happened that caused them to try to enact that law, but you can be sure they included false-flag ops). Those laws give the government power to target their Georgian political opposition, which will ensure the control of Georgia by pro-Russian politicians.

Also, look at how the Nazis consolidated power in 1933 when Hitler took power; the Reichstag was burned (a false-flag op), then they enacted the Reichstag Fire Decree and the Enabling Act to allow them to destroy their political opposition and put 2/3 of the German population in fear of being sent to a labor camp.

Right now, in American politics, any events that look like terrorism will be used to introduce legislation to give some form of additional powers to the upcoming trump administration.

The first few dozen US Abrams tanks have arrived in Taiwan, to protect against Chinese aggression.

That's horrible ...Hoping that our diplomacy department could take more calm measures except wars to put a halt on it. What makes the Taiwan government so nerverous? I've noticed no evident action taken by our government that could stimulate Taiwanese to take such 'PTSD' actions.

What will  happen towards the Taiwan strait ?

No point directing you at various non-Chinese news sources, but the "diplomacy department" really seems to be taking a back seat.

In case you want to read something (and there's reasons why you shouldn't), here's a cut'n'paste from the first article (of many, but avoiding the more obvious rhetoric-led ones) that have been appearing in the last few days.

Taiwan has no ability whatsoever to attack the mainland of China. The only possible way these weapons will ever be used is if the mainland attacks Taiwan. Which Xi has spent the last decade building up a military for, sending a deluge of "they will welcome us as liberators!" type propaganda into the domestic media to lay the groundwork for, and all but openly claiming to the foreign press that he has an unquestioned right to and that anybody who stands in the way of his conquests is a racist warmonger.

One of the individuals granted clemency by Biden, Luz Perez DeMartinez, was convicted of participating in a fentanyl trafficking scheme profiting hundreds of thousands of dollars and facilitating the deaths of who knows how many people.

Yet another very interesting choice of clemency.

Do it without a license and you get 11 years for being responsible for payroll.

Do it with a license, and you can make billions until public opinion turns against your company after they realize you’ve been accelerating drug abuse rates for decades for profit.

Anyway, clemency wasn’t granted in the case you highlight, the sentence was commuted.

Drug dealers are hateful. The drug dealers, wearing fantastic clothes, selling drugs in an elegant, hidden and even legal ways are more hateful.

Anybody who profits from somebody else’s suffering is probably not going to win awards for being a shining light of humanity.

I dunno what the current topic is tbh, I've mostly bowed out of US politics (and politics in general) for...obvious reasons

But humanity is literally devolving in real time

Now its the tribal days where everyone is afraid of things in the sky

More the exception to the rule, but I have heard stories from people who've had genuinely good ones.

One was a guy whose drug dealer apparently would only give them heroin if they weren't self-harming, and took their razor blades off of them to stop them, then once they got clean refused to sell to them any more.

Of course, the guy's still selling heroin, which is a morally dodgy actin at the best of times. The joys of humanity, we tend to sit around with a mix of good and bad in us.

That's... What clemency is. Or rather, it's a form of clemency.

I’m not here to argue semantics. In this instance, clemency is removal of a conviction, commutation is shortening it. Very significant difference.

Have fun splitting the hairs on that if you want.

My man, my dude, the title of the linked page is literally "Clemency Recipient List", and the first paragraph is,

Quote
Today, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is granting clemency consisting of 39 pardons and 1,499 commutations.
