And hey, at least one periodical has some integrity.
Sorta restores my faith in the Free Media.
... I mean, that's AP? They're basically the major news source most other reporting venues in the US crib their notes from. It's not "one periodical", it's more or less the primary journalism organization in the US. They've got their issues, but they're not exactly a small name.

I don’t get this “left-wing media” thing. What is it you are thinking/meaning when you say that? Is it also particular media outlets you mean?

You can PM a response if you want since I’m not interested in the dog-piling that tends to happen round here, just genuinely curious on your perspective.

You know what, fuck it. I can say this publicly, and if the Libtards* can't handle it, then fuck 'em.

Since my thinking on Left-Wing Media mostly revolves around Hunter Biden's Laptop, you probably don't care or agree.

But just in case you do:
It comes down to the fact that Hunter Biden's Laptop was the most damaging thing in Biden's Presidential campaign. I'm not saying it was "accurate", but rather damaging.  And only the Trump-backed media outlet (which has its own problems) the New York Post would mention it during Biden's Presidential campaign.

Sure, now that presidential campaign is over, the other media outlets discuss it. But they refused to touch it when it could hurt Biden vs. Trump.

It seemed to me that we were getting the same shit regarding Conservative Justices.  Which why I was so glad that somebody finally launched an attack on a Liberal Justice.

*"Libtard" is someone that feels that anything Anti-Democrat is Anti-Democracy, and anything Pro-Republican is Pro-Fascism, and sees the need to viciously attack anyone that expresses Anti-Democrat or Pro-Republican views.  I'm fully aware of the problems with the Republican party, and don't appreciate having my nose shoved into the shit of the Republicans whenever I question the integrity of the Democratic Party.

Yeah, it's just as I say: The only difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats are more skilled liars.

don't appreciate having my nose shoved into the shit of the Republicans whenever I question the integrity of the Democratic Party.

[...] is someone that feels that [...]
...given that particular term is a portmanteau featuring a very (intentionally) offensive term[1] that has no place in polite discussions[2], I think there are big problems with its use.

Not the only such 'word' out there (there are ones targetted in both directions, from respectively opposing political stances), but definitely one of those words that often say as much about the user of it as it does about those it gets directed at. And a particularly strong example, in my mind, though perhaps some of that is just from my own cultural stance (e.g. I'd think nothing of calling someone an 'arse', insofar as I ever would anyway, though I think I'm actually not really one for "fruity" language so I'm not the best benchmark).

[1] Or two of them, arguably, in the minds of some of those who would use it.

[2] And has even been phased out as a clinical term, having itself been the replacement for predecessor terminology that had become repopularised as common-language pejorative. But then moved along the same linguistic conveyor belt itself.

Only thing I have to add to this: if you're in a party that's 10% nazis and that isn't a dealbreaker for you, you're either a nazi or a nazi sympathizer. End of fucking story.

1. ...or unaware/in disbelief of that fact
2. ...or merely apathetic toward it (is that much better? not really, but it's meaningfully different from being a sympathizer)
3. I find it really hard to believe that the Republican Party is 10% nazis

e: For context, I'm a Canadian leftist. I just think the reasons people join, support, and identify with groups with toxic subgroups are much, much more complicated than "they secretly sympathize with the toxic subgroup."

You're lumping me in with fascists. They're literally 10% of the Republican Party. Which is 10% too many, but not 90% that aren't fascists.
Just curious, where did you getting 10% from?

I don’t agree with you (but we could say that about a lot of things, you and I :p) but I do care what and why you think things, ‘cause it’s a different perspective to mine.

I think, at least in the example provided, without looking it up again because I’ve had a long day, the reason why the NYP was the only outlet to report on the laptop was they were the only ones to actually have the story. A copy of the laptop hard drive was given to them by Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer, a month before the election, so it looked an awful lot like an attempt to manufacture an “October Surprise” to hamstring Biden’s campaign.

Anyway, a wikipedia article on the matter if you’re interested. I think the NYP also being a tabloid owned by Trump-supporting Rupert  Murdoch didn’t help, particularly in light of the various goings on with his UK holdings (The News of the World getting shut down in the phone hacking scandal, The Sun just being a horrible shitrag (look up “The Truth” headline regarding Hillsborough for that one, plus their current “BBC presenter pays 17 year old £35k for explicit pics” when they were printing topless photos of 16- and 17-year olds when it was legal to do that) so that was another reason other outlets were wanting more details.

When the “mainstream” outlets did get their hands on it they reported on it though. They needed to do their due diligence before printing stuff, and they couldn’t do that while the NYP and Rudy Giuliani controlled the copies of the drive, the former to maintain their monopoly on the story, and the latter because he wouldn’t want them to do what the Washington Post did, and employ forensic analysts to go through the drives and prove that the story had little in the way of legs.

I got curious when I saw "10% Nazis", so I tried looking up some polls, and sadly didn't fine any with direct questions about if they think Jews control society. I did however find these:

https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3va8g/republicans-great-replacement-theory-poll (white supremacist by itself but it's origins are pre-WW2 antisemitism)

https://www.newsweek.com/qanon-antisemitism-morning-consult-survey-1604752

https://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2022-02-24/a-quarter-of-republicans-believe-central-views-of-qanon-conspiracy-movement

So yeah I could totally see at least 10% of republicans being ready to seig-heil zombie Hitler.

Maintaining politeness in a discussion is a fine goal to have. Shouldn't you also call out insinuating somebody is a nazi sympathiser or a straight up nazi, 'too dense to comprehend' or 'clinically fucking brain dead at best'?
