I saw someone point out that Walker is like a really crappy version of the President from Idiocracy, and that's pretty damn terrible.

Then the thought crossed my mind that, honestly, the NFL would probably STILL clear him to play despite everything wrong upstairs.

Walker is terrifyingly well-trained... his debate tactic was "always attack"  (even when asked to defend a stance) and "always to have the last word" (even if it meant talking over the moderator).

I would bet his "speech trainers" worked with "football trainers", to develop the debate playbook and training techniques specifically for Walker.

He is never going to be able to think on his own about any topic.
He will always feel pleasure  when successfully carrying out the "play" he was ordered to follow.

Well-trained...

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

If only the Democrats could be this ruthless and not fall for false ideals of "civility" and "deference" every single time while the other guy tramples all over them.

Republicans once again demonstrating that when they say shit about the left, it's really an admission of guilt on their side.

Call me overly optimistic, but polls can say whatever they want, its either going to be a tiny red splash or democrats will do better than all the republican leaning pollsters (that is what they are to me) are saying we will do. Not many I personally know are excited about biden, but they are far less excited about trumpers taking over. All of my family in the UK like biden though, but they are in the UK.

I'm less optimistic about things in europe for winter. Especially UK just because I have family there. But hope the world stays united through the winter hardships and doesn't give russia anything. Though I know thats not really entirely an ameripol thing and other threads could fit this sentence. (edit: as for my reason not just posting it seperately in the UK thread...I don't live in the UK and don't really know the situation over there personally so I don't feel like I can make the best comment about it. My family hasn't really said anything about how they are doing, but I am kinda worried about them.

Especially if it ends up being Boris, which literally just reminds me of this, though considering the entire speech of the radio maybe not entirely appropriate for their upcoming winter which is what I am worried about, but the general point hope comes across and is a little funny :P

Ok so, I have a really hilariously dumb moment I have to share because hopefully it will make others laugh.

I only saw the stupid conservatwat outrage over "lizzo playing a crystal flute some old dead cunt owned" in passing and well...

...*sigh* until I saw this tweet as I scrolled by: https://twitter.com/Imposter_Edits/status/1575549255393349632

...I genuinely thought they were talking about like, a crystal champagne flute and she was like rubbing her finger around the rim to play it.

polls are like aiming for the toilet while trying to impress your friends with how good your aim is by standing a few feet away from it. Some of it may go in, but mostly not

It offends me that you're giving such legitimacy to polls.

They're more like a toilet with a large turd, in which you claim it's the World's Largest Turd, yet never let anyone see it.
Then get the Newspaper to write about it. Then claim it's legit.

Hm, so what happens when we get a slightly Republican Congress (since they're NOT gonna get a majority that overturn vetoes) and a slightly Democrat President?

If NOTHING happens, who do we blame? If we let THEM dictate things, we get 2 years of hot potato blame game.  If we instead threaten to Vote Out All Incumbents, maybe they have to DO THEIR FUCKING JOB.

None

You don't have to wonder- republicans will object to everything, and obstruct whatever they can to claim both that socialism doesn't work (we're not socialist) and that Biden is a Do Nothing Democrat who Does Nothing but also Will Destroy Us With Communism.

There's really no both-sidesing thing one. Republicans do not have a platform. End of discussion. They obstruct and they aggregate power so they can line their pockets. "NOTHING" is the objective so they can point at current issues as a failure of democrat policies while simultaneously doing nothing about current issues, choosing instead to ostracize an out group, like the border caravan, or queer folk.

Let's instead Vote Out All Republicans so that our government can work for us.

Yep.

In Wisconsin they objected to how the Democratic governor was dealing with the pandemic when it became a big deal in 2020, particularly over mask mandates and how the state health secretary (or whatever it was called) extended the first one since they claimed they didn’t have the power to do that so took them to court… rather than organize a vote in the Republican-controlled state senate to vote it down.

Much as I hate polticians in general, we need to prioritize. The system is fucked such that we're forced to choose between a bunch of old rich men, and a bunch of old rich fascist men, and "not more corprorate puppets" isn't on the ballet. Thing is, one option is presently more of a threat to our ability to exercise what little choice we have left.

So apparently fighting Authoritarianism is a Bad Thing. Except when the Republicans do it. Got it.

I get this point. The Red Wave will probably keep Trump out of Prison. The NY Republican Attorney General candidate has done unexpectedly well for someone so young...

Yup, he's a plant by the Banks to keep Trump out of jail.

They weren’t fighting authoritarianism, they were wasting time and money doing something they had the power to stop pretty much immediately by voting on it.

Or, to put it in your terms, fighting a pandemic is good, except when Democrats do it by following the advice given by healthcare experts the world over.

I can pretty much assure you that neither political party is as organized as you apparently think they are...

Deep breath....

So, the Governor and their party members do no always agree, regardless of Party Affiliation.

When anyone fails to link articles, it denies others the ability to review the claims. This erodes confidence in the claims.

When anyone talks "generally", they're generally wrong. There tend to be more exceptions than rules. I'm also mostly against generalizations because they allow a small number of people to avoid mostly avoid blame, and a large number of people to receive undue blame.
