Brace yourselves for more vigilante "justice" and people showing up where they don't live with guns to do something. Because they just got the green light for it.

Yeah we'd be way better off with mob justice making the rules instead of legitimate court proceedings.
If you don't wanna get shot, don't grab two of your buddies and try to attack a guy with a gun.  ::)

What exactly is the correct response in a chaotic situation where people are screaming a dude just shot someone? Isn't that exactly the kind of thing people brought guns to prevent? Or should they have gone "I'm sure they had a good reason to kill."

Rittenhouse isn't even old enough to drink but the verdict basically said he was old enough to decide to go looking for trouble and play executioner on the street.

trying to be a hero when faced with a firearm is very risky, no matter the wider context. And expecting a mob to make a fair judgement is quite risky too.

Legally, with the laws on open carry and such as they are, the only way he'd get convicted would be if it was proven he planned to put himself in a situation where he would be chased by a mob so he could have a justification for shooting people, and with only limited circumstantial evidence that is one hell of a thing to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt"

Not Guilty on all counts!

Aw c'mon that veredict is bullshit and everyone knows it. While it can be ruled as self defense it sitll something he went looking into somehow. Some kind of penalty is required here, is not prison them otherwise.

The case was hamstrung by a ludicrously biased judge. It is almost certain that the same case in a different courtroom would have had a different result. Unfortunately, the misconduct did not rise to the extent required to bypass double jeopardy, but it is going to make the inevitable civil cases extremely straightforward, and the kid doesn't have the charisma to really exploit the right-wing grift machine.

Yeah, I don't think this outcome has surprised anyone without their head under a rock. As soon as it became clear what a blunderfest the trial was the only hope was the possession charge, which turned out to have been invalid due to a quirk of state law.

I think we ought to congratulate mr rittenhouse however, for being the first american ever to have a defense comprised solely of the judge and prosecution. What a fucking shit show.

it was self defense. it was a stupid situation but ultimately kyle didn't pull the trigger on people randomly.

you could argue, and i agree, that he shouldn't have been there to begin with but then neither should the men shot. kyle's not a hero, vigilantism shouldn't be praised but neither should the crowd of rioters and those shot because mob justice is just as bad.

the judge didn't start out biased but he def began hating the prosecutor when the prosecutor himself implied that kyle's silence was indicative of guilt, a clear violation of kyle' 5th amendment right to silence.

i have little sympathy for anyone involved in this case. the protest long moved on before the event and everyone, including kyle and the men shot, were there for trouble.

the issue is how politicized the trial became and how quick misinformation spread. so many on social media jumped to conclusions without even watching the trial. "racism" was thrown around too much and had no bearing on this case whatsoever.

i was on the fence until i saw the video and wondered why the stupid kid left the auto shop and put himself in that situation but even more so why those assholes tried to jump him on false information cuz one of the rioters wanted to start shit.

the entire thing was indeed, a shitshow

Racism did have bearing, though? The bits related to it was misplayed by the incredibly shitty prosecution (there's stuff the killer could have easily been hit with, like curfew violation, that they didn't even bother trying, just as one example of their incompetence) and thrown out by the blatantly biased judge. The killer was a white supremacist with ties to a white nationalist terrorist organization, the protest he went to armed and intent on killing people was happening due to issues involving racism related shit.

Nevermind the more tangential aspects (if the killer had been black or middle eastern, it's fairly likely they wouldn't have even survived to reach court, nevermind seen an acquittal if he had been chummy with ISIS instead of the proud boys), there was things related to it directly involved that just got bungled.

Thing was, indeed, a shitshow, though -- if nothing else absolutely everyone I've seen commenting on it on any side of the political spectrum agrees with that one. Often for different reasons, but bloody no one seems to think that trail was anything but a farce.

the thing with it is, during the time of the riot he was underage at 17, if they played the proud boys card, the defense could pull the "he was groomed" card. it would be bullshit but it would have to be considered.

aside from some back the blue posts, i cant find any actual evidence of white supremacy on kyles part other than posts other people have made about him. this could just tie into my gripe about the misinformation though, its everywhere but noone posted proof with it.

also the proud boys are political, not racist. in fact their current chairman is afro-cuban. im almost sure some of them are white supremist on the side but kyle himself showed no overt white supremacy in his actions.

personally i have problems with lynching this kid for being stupid when both 1. actual racists hunted down arbrey yet that trial got less press then this and 2. rosenbaum literally shouted the n-word at kyle.
