There are two, to my knowledge. Guragon, a chaotic mess of competing enterprises, and Levasa, run by a single private entity in some kind of monopolised dystopia.

"you cut your leg off to save a buck on shoes"

Your money goes twice the distance.

Half that distance will be quite uncomfortable depending on the shoe, but it... it still works.

You need to enter into a fiscal partnership with someone else who cut off their other leg to properly gain the advantage on shoe-leather. Of course, they need to be someone with a matching shoe-size, which probably needs an external agency to administer. (And an arbitration system when one of you goes walking hopping much more than the other, and requires further shared investment.)

... I'm surprised someone hasn't made a prosthetic from the bones of their lost limb. That I know of.

I'd be surprised if some of the earlier attempts weren't basically that, tbh. Maybe not explicitly fron the person's lost limb (losing them tends to screw with structural integrity, from what I understand :P), but yoinking one from a cadaver or something seems right up the alley of old bone doctors.

I'm annoyed by the discussion of Communism and Marx-Leninist nonsense being brought up with nobody pointing out the problem was that stupid cunt Lenin.

Fuck that guy utterly and completely.

Marx is talking about "so then profit motives will force capitalist societies to ever greater levels of automation until they run their whole workforce out of a job, leading to a revolution wherein a socialist society can be established" and Lenin was picking his nose before going "wait what was that last thing you said? revolutionary overthrow of capitalism to install a socialist society? yeahhh, that sounds cool" but instead of checking to see what he was talking about he fucking ran with it.

Marx was a futurist writing sci-fi about the present day and near future as automation expands further and further.
Lenin was a cunt who liked the shit Marx was talking about but wanted to skip to the end and ruined shit for lots of people.

As long as there are things that only people can produce (or are preferentially produced by people), and there is currency to be exchanged for those things, people will have jobs in one capacity or another.

For this reason, a pure socialist economic outlook is unrealistic.  It will be some form of mixed economy, where automation dominates all major production, and human labor is invested only in small, bespoke products. (Like what you find on etsy)

To support that small, bespoke labor, a strongly socialized infrastructure would be required.

That is the future I see.  I do not see the "glorious future" Marx tries to posit.   Instead, I see a constant battle between the still imminently wealthy, seeking to continue getting wealthier, despite having exhausted the means they have used previously-- and moving past industrial captaincy, and moving wholesale toward capital gains based vehicles to grow their wealth.

Currency will still be a thing, because of the bespoke work people will be doing to stay busy-- and so the wealth gap will continue to widen, even with the highly socialized infrastructure.

It will still be unstable, but that is the future I forsee.  Strained, and barely held together, and constantly endangered by idiots with rose colored glasses preaching about American Dreams, and "How it USED to be!", trying to rip the socialized infrastructure up from the ground, with the indolent, and highly wealthy upper classes egging them on for entertainment.

The big unknown I see in predicting how things go is space (spaaaaaace): If space-based mining becomes economically feasible first, then the resource caps on production get blown off. If space-based manufacturing then proves biologically feasible for regular humans to live and work in orbit for prolonged periods, all the caps are blown off except feeding the population (and then if we can do space-farming that gets blown off). That would restructure economics in ways we probably can't even predict akin to how the internet restructured things that people never predicted before.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
