Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo
Oh god, I don’t I’m ready for the war, we’re there neutrals in the first civil war? Those who just wanted to survive? How did they fare?
Vector doesn't like to be quoted.
As someone else I know put it: "Those yokels with rifles can't possibly stand up to the might of the British Empire." See also: Northern Ireland. Attrition can be a victory marker all its own.
Bad comparisons. Not only was the American Revolution fought with the aid of two of the world's other great powers (France and Spain), limiting the ability of the British to prosecute the war, but the colonial cause was quite popular in Parliament. It is easy to win a war by simply not losing when your enemy is not that enthusiastic in the first place and also has to fight multiple peers.
Meanwhile the PIRA and other Northern Irish rebels
lost. There was never a huge chance of them actually kicking the British out.
All that said, the chances of an actual civil war breaking out are close to zero. The Feds are ripping apart the core of the boogaloo movement quite aggressively because so many were identified as insurrectionists, all mainstream communication links are being taken down (there's even scuttlebutt that 4chan is running aground, let alone everything else), and the main alternative is unable to handle any real communications load.
More importantly, every major organization in the country has denounced the Proud Boys and their allies. They don't have the support for much of anything. More violence is a real possibility (though a dead cop is likely to lead to major suppression), but even something like Waco is all but impossible.
