It seems, at least to me, that some people have decided Black people shouldn't be able to vote. We know that if only white males voted the entire electoral map would be red (no offense intended to anyone here who voted against Trump, white women also leaned Trump, but CA would still be blue if only white people voted). My understanding is that that is what all the "fraudulent" and "illegal" vote rhetoric is about. I know that they haven't brought out the explicit rhetoric, but I think that this is what it's about for most of the people attacking the Capitol.

The US Government is not in control of the US Capitol Building. Tear Gas in the building. Kamala Harris, Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi confirmed to be in undisclosed but safe locations (these were announced seperately, not a singular statement). CSPAN is describing members of their presscorps as also being in "an undisclosed location" due to the evacuation and building being overrun.

I've actually seen a couple journalists I normally have mentally tagged as Trumpbots denouncing this, which is... good but bad. It takes actually storming the seat of government to persuade people, and even then not everyone. It's wild.

I've seen some reporting the gas is from a hijacked fire extinguisher. But it's all going pretty fast and I'm trying to sift through it all.
