Fuck Democrats the most, personally.  Yeah, Republicans are villains, but they're the True Neutral type of villain who isn't even capable of believing that anything other than self-interest and power can exist in the world.  Individually, I don't mean to absolve them of responsibility for who they are.  But in the abstract, people like Republicans will always exist, and the only question worth asking is how to cope with them.  Meanwhile, Democrats demonstrate consistently that they understand what good is and knows much of their voting base believes in it, but they know they don't ever have to do the right thing so long as they can present themselves as the only alternative to Republicans.

We're walking a path to hell.  Republicans hold an unloaded gun to our backs, and tell us to march or they'll shoot.  Democrats walk alongside them with bullet in hand, and tell us to march or they'll give Republicans the bullet.  They're both marching us to hell under threat of being shot.  Yet Democrats have the audacity to speak to us as if they're our friends in this situation.  Just because they're not holding the gun and don't give Republicans the bullet, so long as we submit to the same demand.  Fuck the one who pretends to be my friend the most.

So apparently a bunch of the Very Fine People were planning on kidnapping Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and this was what the FBI's big announcement yesterday was really supposed to be about.

And down here in the Cal Cunningham Clusterfuck, the NC GOP and the husband of the woman he cheated with are trying to get him prosecuted under the UMCJ because Cunningham is a reservist and adultery is a crime under some circumstances in the UMCJ. Great. Great.

Honestly I'm surprised that hasn't been more of a theme in the last four years to be honest. We feel quite overdue for some major attempt at assassinating governors or congress (something like the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords) and things of that nature. I mean the sitting president has been pretty much actively inviting something like this for a while ("LIBERATE MICHIGAN").

My guess is that we're more likely to hear of more, not fewer, attempts at things like this in the near future.

Even if you don't like leaders' personalities or policies, if you resort to, advocate, or simply stand by and allow violence to effect leadership change... that's a really dire leading indicator of where things are going.   As I said way back in March, my big fear of the pandemic isn't the disease itself but rather the social unrest it catalyzed.

The sad thing about "the religious right" is that probably about 80% of them are pawns. They are single-issue voters, whose voting power is used by the power brokers for their own purposes.  They basically found something very emotional (abortion) to get people to vote a certain way.

Beasley is the head of the WFP. Urdal is sweetly naive. She has the concept of Trump being vicariously happy for the winner of something he himself lost. These guys are Trumpists, probably even more extreme than most. They're just taking Trump's side in a hypothetical civil war rather than supporting his electoral goals.

I had assumed the Trump connection was nothing so direct. Anti-government militias are not unusual for Michigan, and a lot of them tend to be on the side of white supremacy as well. To the extent white supremacy and Trump are connected there's part of the link. The other being Trump's forceful antagonism towards COVID protections and Whitmer's 'extreme authoritarian' COVID protections.

Or, said another way, they may consider Trump an ally, but many of the existing groups in that region long predate Trump (or recent groups like Proud Boys) and aren't just 'Trump militias'.
