kinda ties in to the whole depressed people are more realistic.

I wouldn't say that, depressed people, imo, have an utterly warped and unrealistic view of the world. Cynicism is far more unrealistic than even the most deluded of optimisms. The impression of realism is more of an illusion stemming from self-fulfilling prophecies; i.e. they believe that they'll never get anywhere in life, so they don't try, and therefore they never get anywhere.

I gotta nitpick this idea.

Cynicism: "We're all going to get old and decrepit and die anyways."

Deluded Optimism: "I'm going to live forever in perfect health."

Given the example, I’d say cynicism is more realistic

It's only reasonable to assume that I'll live forever.  I mean, going by all available precedent, I haven't died yet, no?

But nobody has ever lived forever either.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Some humans died. Some others are alive. Data inconclusive!

Humans are fragile, and go through an aging process where after a certain point in its life, its hardware degrades faster than it can be repaired. Therefore death, the cessation of the chemical processes that keep the software running, will happen to us, until we find a way to upgrade our hardware.

((Hardware of course, is referring to our bodies))

That's not true. It's not 100%, because there are living things here.

I thought it was a throwaway tweet or joke, but it's actually semi-real?

Kanye schedules his first presidential campaign event.

Being the cynical person I am, I suspect he's doing this to get a slice of that sweet campaign contribution embezzlement system. (I thought he was pretty interesting back in the early/mid 2000s, but he's changed quite a bit since.)

I'm not sure the appropriate emotion to describe what I felt when learning that Mr. West is running on the ticket under the Birthday Party.
