I "like" that the responses to the Coronavirus have been pretty much describing the entire platform of the candidates. Biden said Trump did a bad job of handling it without really saying what the problem is or how to fix it. Sanders said having a healthcare system that people can't or don't want to use and the government refusing to take responsibility are problems that need fixing. Guess which one is winning.

I think that's pure conspiracy theory stuff there. The station said it was a test run of the graphics, and I'd believe them. If it was routine to fake results like this and all the local TV stations were in on the ruse, then you'd hear more about it. That many people can't keep a secret.

Also, since the test included Republican primary results, you'd also have to concluded that whoever is running the Republican primaries and the Democratic primaries are in cahoots here. So the only way this works is if the Republicans and Democrats are working together to rig the primaries in their state, along with local TV stations, and both sides know they're both doing it, enough to coordinate getting the fake data to local news ahead of time.

You guys are actually going off the deep end here. Sanity check here, aren't you the same people who rolled your eyes at the "crooked Hillary rigged the election" stuff when Trump said it, and against Voter ID, because virtually no examples of voter fraud have ever been uncovered? Now, because it's an internal election you guys are turning into Trumpist/Infowars sounding people.

Yeah, but there have been a lot of very suspicious accidents, mistakes, and coincidences. Our options are either the people in charge are regular incompetent, or are trying to screw us over and are incompetent at that.

And I would argue that putting out results for an election prior to voting would be a failure to keep it secret, if that is what happened. The same as catching cheating on video.

Also, since the test included Republican primary results, you'd also have to concluded that whoever is running the Republican primaries and the Democratic primaries are in cahoots here. So the only way this works is if the Republicans and Democrats are working together to rig the primaries in their state, along with local TV stations, and both sides know they're both doing it, enough to coordinate getting the fake data to local news ahead of time.

The party with an incumbent (already in office and is running again) candidate generally doesn't run a primary. So only one party needs to be involved.

Also googling "Illinois Republican Primary" shows that Trump is running against the guy shown in the graphic aired on that local station, so it's a thing.

So you can say

(1) they had fake/rigged results for both primaries
(2) they had fake/rigged results for the Democratic primaries, and "mocked up" results for the Republican primaries
(3) they had "mocked up" results for both primaries.

So

(1) involves a massive cross-party conspiracy, that also involves many in the media
(2) is presuming your conclusion, so it's circular logic
(3) makes sense and is plausible

Also, it's ridiculous. If they gave exact figures for the number of votes cast in both primaries then what if either primary has a turnout that's way lower or higher than expected? They would just never do things like this, it would involve bringing way too many people into the conspiracy. Half the TV station would know it's a thing for a start. Conspiracies operate on a "need to know" basis. Even if the station was super anti-Bernie there wouldn't be any value in involving them as co-conspirators by giving them pre-rigged figures: they're going to report whatever you tell them regardless.

Exit polls are routinely conducted on Election Day by Edison Research for a consortium of news organizations. In 2016, exit polls estimated that the white working class cast a total of 34 percent, or 46.5 million votes out of the 136.67 million ballots cast.

The Pew study, in contrast, found that the white working class cast 44 percent, or 60.1 million votes, of all the 2016 votes for president — 13.5 million more votes than in the Edison Research exit polls.

At the same time, Pew found that whites with college degrees made up 30 percent of the total electorate, not the 37 percent reported in the exit polls. In other words, Pew found that white working-class voters outnumbered white college voters among all voters, while the exit polls reported just the opposite.

Exit polls are sampling, and they then scale that up based on assumptions about demographics. If the sample is biased (location, timing, self-selection) or the demographic assumptions are wrong, then the exit polls are wrong:

Edison exit polls taken on Nov. 8 had Clinton failing to carry college-educated whites, losing them to Trump (49-45). Pew found that she did in fact win these voters, decisively carrying white college grads, 55-38.

According to the November exit polls, half of the entire 2016 electorate of all races had college degrees; Pew found that such well-educated voters were a much smaller 37 percent.

So there are systematic biases in the exit polls that would tend to give the impression that someone like Sanders is ahead more than he is. So, the best thing is to stop relying on unreliable exit polls because otherwise you need to also give the Trumpists the platform when they harp on about "but muh exit polls".

But that assumption would preclude them accidentally launching either the fakes or the mock-ups. And doesn't change the fact that, if what you're saying is correct, then they meant to put out fake figures for the Republican primary too.
