Yeah, IF he gets in there, he is polling practically null right now. I've heard of him mentioned before and I know nothing about him. I suppose his last name might be an issue, but he's Taiwanese Chinese, not mainland Chinese.
Looking at his campaign page, he certainly has ideas about big issues. But he has stuff that candidates would either roll into a larger plan or things that wouldn't be a decider for 99% of people, like stuff about robocalling, zoning, making taxes fun (I went O.o at this. I get what he's trying to say about making it not a chore, but making revenue day a holiday with celebrations? I can't tell if he's being sarcastic or serious), an idea to burst the rural/urban divide and the bubbles (I don't think the idea he's proposing is logistically workable, but could serve to start a conversation on it). Surprisingly (considering his background), he doesn't have anything about China, though knowing his background, it wouldn't be hard to guess. The only foriegn policy stuff in there is one entry in the policy page. Though I guess technically two since he has one entry about modernizing military funding and refocusing.
The main problem is that he's starting off as an utter blank slate, he is unknown outside of whatever circles he is in. As outsider as Trump was, he still had name recognition as a foundation.
Beto's about to announce tbh. I wish he wouldn't and would just run for senate later.
Agreed. "Pretty far left for Texas" and "shill for oil companies" aren't the direction Democrats (or anyone) needs to go.
Haven't heard anything about him being shill for oil companies. Also, I've read ancedotes that Republican operatives said that if he had done his campaign better or differently, he very well could have won that seat.
