Looks like the DC MAGA incident is turning into quite the clusterfuck. Social media and mainstream media went into a frenzy over a viral video where MAGA hat-wearing Kentuckian teenagers were allegedly harassing, mocking, and intimidating in a racist manner a Native American Vietnam veteran coming from a recently-ended protest march.

Long story short, teenagers were doxxed and had death threats sent to them; they might face expulsion; and colleges and universities were messaged to reject all of their applications...

And then suddenly an almost 2-hour-long video with context arrives and slowly, but surely, the mainstream media realizes they might have fucked up.

But of course, the damage is already done.

Yeah, it's like they were stumbling all over themselves and each other before getting the full facts for sure.

From the articles, it also sounds like the guy confused the situation by trying to somehow mediate between the two and the students got a bit confused.

The original video the media put out showed the MAGA-kids chanting and appearing to get up close in the face of the Native American vet who was just minding his own business. They looked extremely douchy.

The new context is that there was also an anti-MAGA hate group spewing extremely aggressive harassment at the teens. The teens got permission from their school chaperone, then started chanting their school motto in defiance of the hate group. That's when the Native American guy showed up and decided to intervene by putting himself uncomfortably close in the teen's faces and singing his song, while they did their best to ignore him.

There's two sides to every story, and it's yet unclear where the truth lies here. As far as I'm concerned, none of these people had any business making public displays that day, so they're all idiots.

I do tend to find that the "everyone is wrong" assumption can be correctly applied to many circumstances.

So much so that it actually autocompletes with my predictive text suggestions.

I saw that the other day and was like "Oh man, it's like a made for Left Wing News event. "ELDERLY NATIVE AMERICAN WAR VET PLAYING DRUMS OF FREEDOM ACCOSTED BY MAGA TEENS, BYSTANDERS LOOK ON IN HORROR."

Sometimes, just sometimes, the stupid alt right labels fit. *Sigh*

And in something approaching actual news, unscheduled absenteeism for TSA workers has roughly tripled compared to last year. From around 3% to 10%, many citing financial limitations as their reason for being unable to make it to work.

It has an annual budget of $7.58 billion.

Hey, trading a year worth of airplane terrorists for many years worth of border terrorists seems like a pretty good deal, right? /s

Trading getting onto a plane unaccosted for a border wall is damn tempting.
