The attitude that can survive in that sort of isolated environment - if someone comes on your land, you have guns to defend yourself with just in case - is in fact pure poison in an urban environment. The attitude cannot be generalized into a universal philosophy that's good for us, too, living in big cities who have to live almost on top of 1000s of other people.

I could just go on a 5 minute walk out my front door, and have potential interactions with 500 other people on the street, in shops/cafes or in cars, and I'm not even in the middle of town or anything. You can see how, in that environment, the attitude that someone shoving someone else is valid reason to shoot them for assaulting you would be pure crazy. Plenty of chance to hit innocent bystanders for a start.

This thread has devolved to the point where the problem with ending the life of a person that mildly annoys you is that you could accidentally shoot someone else while you are at it.
