Because my point was that Trump is as okay with 99% of issues that are left-wing as Obama, Clinton, Sanders or anyone else. He doesn't question them won't repeal them. That's it.

If US and Europe maintained the same protectionist policy as in the 1930s there would never be such a huge economic growth, neither would it have happened if we had nationalized everything like the UK or France. There is a reason why the US was so succesful back then and Europe was not. It's ridiculous to believe that it is all because of the war. Socialist governments of European countries (apart from the German one) did everything they could to make things worse with their statist agenda and American companies were allowed to prosper. That's the point.

If that bothers you enough to hide someone's posts, then announce to everyone that you've done so, then frankly you should probably just find an echo chamber with a more reliable seal. Is it really so unbelievable to you that someone would hold a mainstream political stance?

Except you're not really right. I read the entire topic and he is not just trolling and writing the same thing all over again. Baffler shows you an example of a post that proves you wrong.

Johnny is a bit misguided, but he raises some good points, like in the post quoted by Baffler.

If he IS trolling and trying to rile people up, he's doing a pretty poor job of riling people up. Economics discussions hardly get very heated up around here, compared to a whole bunch of other things, like say... abortion.

Well none of the things he says actually has any proof in them, to be fair. He's not trolling, just being very opinionated. Not something I personally like because there's no point in having a discussion with someone like that, so I see where Descan's coming from, though I wouldn't go so far as to block 'im for it.

I agree, he presents ideas very poorly as he does nothing to prove them, but calling him a troll and publicly announce blocking him sounds a bit excessive.

Maybe yes, maybe no? The critter's doing bog standard scattershot lolbertarian nonsense; not proving anything is half the point, as whenever something is questioned, corrected, or pointed out as bugnuttery, you immediately throw out a half dozen other things, most of them at-best loosely connected.

If it's not trolling, it's someone that's been bamboozled by folks that were, basically. Also obvious enough I can see why desc would react like that, though it's maybe on the excessive side. Mess actually made my headache worse just looking at it, heh.

point of fact: I only blocked him when he did the dumb-as-bricks "not everyones a leftist!" bullshit. That sealed the deal, instead of him responding to what I actually said, he followed a script when met with resistance. _{<--- Since I know someone's gonna latch onto the first sentence, THIS is the important part, and going "but... not everyone IS a leftist" is completely missing the point.}

You gotta do what you gotta do, but keeping the general tone of the thread healthy - if not friendly, then at least civil - is something we all have to work for.
