Like... I get the sentiment, and everything. But it does strike me that trading a thousand demons and only getting one new one back is a pretty good deal? Reducing your considered demon population by around 99.9% is usually considered fairly successful, I think.

You are taking it too literally.

Look I'll make it easier: Do you want to trade your freedom of expression and Freedom of thought in order to take down Nazis? Do you think a society without those would remain a just society?

They NEED to be dealt with, but these methods will backfire in a spectacular way. I do not condone thought police, I do not condone the moralizing ideological group the free right to hunt dissenters down and prosecute them via mob justice.

When the Nazis go away... This mentality will not... Then what are you stuck with?

... what part of "I get the sentiment and everything" was so hard to grasp?

The part that came after that. Which made it sound like you didn't get the sentiment?

But I'll take you on your word... I am REALLY exhausted anyhow (not from this thread... from lack of sleep) so as long as I am at least understood I am happy.

I was pointing out the whole thing where it's a piss poor pithy platitude when someone can look at it, think for a second, and go, "Hey, wait a second, that actually sounds pretty good?" Even when they're taking the piss. Not much beyond that.

Go hump Nietzsche or somethin' instead, maybe. The abyss thing's always a classic.

Dang Rwandan Genocide!

Never in history has someone EVER become worse than who they were fighting or created a far worse problem in an attempt to fix another.

Isn't that right USSR... (Wow, there is quite a history of this)

He who slays 1000 demons becomes one.
Nice!
Also,

Um, George W. Bush and the Iraq war comes to mind. Though he was trying to fix a non-existent problem and aiming for completely the wrong thing. Shoulda invaded Saudi Arabia instead.

Wait wait, so if you kill 2000 demons you become two demons? And if you kill six billion, do you become a god?

bloody hell now you've got me thinking of a self-perpetuating demon killing machine

it's a bad thing because you'd have to reproduce to get the numbers steady, and now we're considering an unending cycle of demon murder followed by demon incest followed by demon murder, forever

the murder is to bring in new blood, you see? Since if you kill two thousand, you get two, every once in a while you kill off a few thousand and use the new demons to stabilize the genetic profile of all the other ones, or kill off everyone and start anew with 1/1000th the population. You might even be able to grow that, really, if you keep the genealogies straight so the intermittent bottlenecks don't cause problems.

also scenery porn is great
i really need to catch up on KSBD.

Well, if genetic bottlenecks aren't a problem and you don't care about killing millions of lookalike demons without getting bored of killing the nearly-exact-same-thing over and over. Or some wierd shit.

What's KSBD though?

Kill Six Billion Demons. Webcomic. The plot is in the name. The backgrounds et al are among of the clearest examples of scenery porn I have ever seen.

E: ... also it looks a lot like the last time I caught up with it was in 2014. Huh. I guess there's a reason there's 280 or so unread messages in my KSBD rss thing.

In response to Max I would like to point out the problem I have with Charlottesville isn't antifa counter protesters (although i'm not exactly a fan) but the fact that police shut down the rally and pushed the groups together, causing the street fighting. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say it was intentional.

Don't worry about that, man, folks got you covered like damn. You don't have to say a thing, just make vague waving motions towards the people babbling about soros psy-ops.

This conversation makes me want to go play Doom.  Anything that reminds me of Doom can't be so bad.

Also... thanks for the pointer to KSBD.  Hadn't heard of it before.
