Ugh. Watching Trump and KJU bandy threats is like watching two belligerent drunks shouting at each other in a bar. You're less worried about the two of them and more worried about all the potential bystanders if shit gets real.

IIRC that was considered at one point.  I think it was called off when someone in charge finally said 'holy shit what are we planning, we have no idea how to do this in a way that does not have a huge risk of just blowing the damn thing up early.'

One of the things that's keeping the whole thing from exploding is the fact that it's under pressure, release the pressure and it all fizzes over like some kind of catastrophic can of sprite that's been shaken up.

I'm fairly sure the magma plume is way too deep for a borehole to relieve that pressure from the earth above and trigger an eruption, it would close up nearly instantly. Thermonuclear excavation is the only rational option.

I feel the US is closer to war with North Korea than it ever has been in the past decades.

Trump brings a level of unpredictability to the situation which makes predicting where this will go almost impossible.

Guam's population is less than a fifth of North Dakota's, so I don't actually support that.  Though it would be a little funny for the ND representative to sit near someone with 1/6 the electorate.  You know- to see how it feels.

His golf buddies are working out a measured response over wine as we speak.

Which does remind me - isn't a good chunk of the White House, Trump included, out at the moment on vacation and such while they fix the heating? This could quite literally be a geopolitical crisis unfolding at least partly in a Trump-branded golf retreat.
