Pretty sure there's no mechanism for calling snap elections. If Trump gets kicked out, Pence becomes prez, and if he gets the boot, it's Ryan.
Note that the order and timing matters. Ryan only gets to be President if both President and Vice-President are both removed without replacement. If Pence pulls a Spiro Agnew and resigns before the scandal breaks, Trump will be able to appoint a new one under the 25th Amendment, and then that person will pull a Gerald Ford.

Well, you could always opt to let yourself be invaded by a benevolent foreign country, and have them install a better candidate. Make Britain Great Again!

Lawfare blog article on the need for a bipartisan select committee rather than a 9/11 style commission. It's a long read, but it also goes over the weaknesses of the current way that Congress is investigating it. Mainly because it's still ongoing.

Any ideas for a thread name change? The immigration stuff has mainly fallen into the background. I think I have a thought or two on name change.

"Making Russia scandalous again" is my proposal. Perhaps another word could be substituted in, like "treason" or something.

Also, Breaking News: Jeff Sessions has recused himself from the investigation following the reveal of the contacts with Russia.

Let me tell you folks, I've seen some bad threads in my time, but this one takes the cake. It takes the cake, I'm telling you! Full of fake news, fake people. Very badly organized. My friends tell me, "hey, this could be done better," and I have to agree. Ameripol can be great again, but there's gonna have to be, there's gonna have to be some changes. Now smjjames, he's a great guy, great guy, inherited a mess. But he hasn't. done. the job. We have to bring back the long posts, we have to bring back mainiac, we have to get tougher moderation, and we have to fix the partisan balance. That's how we'll make Ameripol great again folks.

I think it's funny in a tragic sort of way that the Dems have so masterfully reversed the situation from after Obama was elected, derailing things as much as they possibly can and blaming the administration for the resulting shitfest. They've done better than the Republicans did, even, since Russia is a much better bogeyman than socialism, the administration isn't as politically experienced, and they have better media mouthpieces.

I... don't think someone actually getting caught committing perjury is quite the same sort of stuff the reps were getting up to a few years back. Dems might not be all that gracious at the moment (and hey, that's not exactly a surprise considering the way each side shits on the other, and what they can expect after the last time they tried that route), but most of the shitfests around this administration you can't blame much on anyone except said administration.

Maybe if someone was trying to bring in people that didn't have histories and practices as questionable as much of this lot has, there wouldn't be quite the amount of problem :V

Oh wait, I got it. Thread title: "Are you tired of winning yet?"

Actually, we should save that for the when the big one hits. This ain't big enough for that yet. Or wait, maybe this one should ask the question, and the thread title for the big one will be "Yes, we are already tired of winning so much."

Speaking of Russian scandal, Russia's opposition leader Aleksej Navalny accuses prime minister Medvedev of being "one of the richests and most corrupt people in Russia".
According to Navalny, an investigation by anti-corruption agency FBK shows that Medvedev has numerous palaces, villas, yachts and even wineries, both in Russia as well as in foreign countries.
Navalny has produced a 87 pages thick report, accusing Medvedev of hiding his private estate property behind cahritative organisations, which in reality only exist to take bribes. Every single last charity is owned on paper by old friends of Medvedev, like his college buddy Ilja Jelisejev.
