I miss going for weeks at a time without thinking about the president.

So this seems confirmed, although it's probably not as far reaching as it seems.

It was announced days after Trump acknowledged the One China Policy.

Guy better hope to hell there wasn't any communication on his part on the subject, though, or more or less anyone he was aware of business wise. Bigger issue than the present thing is that it is very much straight up illegal for americans to indulge in corruption -- such as trading political favors for legal consideration, ferex -- in other countries. Usually fairly hard to pin down, but that's also because there's usually only so many people that particularly care about the actors involved.

1 billion dollars in $100 cash weights about 10 tons and takes 13.24 cubic meters densely packed.

It's estimated that all the mined gold in the world would fit into a 20 metre cube, so not that much bigger.

A cube 20 m on a side is 8000 m³, so there is quite a bit of difference.

Or for that matter, communication on Xi's part, like him offering to do that as a favor for doing the One China policy. Which still amounts to corruption as it's still trading favors. Someone needs to leak that China conversation......

Even if there wasn't any collaboration between the two, the timing makes it hard pressed to call it a simple coincidence.

History and politics are driven by the gears of economics, so factoids about money are always germane.

could it be a deliberate move of chinese government to weaken the US presidency? not sure how much of an effect this thing could have.

I don't see how it would weaken the Presidency itself in general. Sure, it could weaken Trumps Presidency on the appearance of conflicts of interest alone or even have leverage via favors, which is the big issue here.
