Sorry to pull up a godwin, but Hitler was an idiot with a team of amateurs. He pretty much lost the war by himself by disregarding his general's advices, though his sheer impredictability allowed him a lot of early successes.
worth noting this is an untrue myth perpetuated after WW2 by those same generals, who after WW2 sought to whitewash both their fuckups and their role as fellow travellers of a fascist dictator

I have a video around about this, which I actually have posted here in the past. I'll post it of I find it, because I kind of feel that those shitlords have partially succeeded at deflecting the blame if we let the myth perpetuate itself.

He is weakening America's national security and foreign policy, destroying any chance of achieving the muscular goals he set out during the campaign while putting lives at risk at home and elsewhere.
Surprisingly precisely no one that paid the least bit of actual attention to said campaign, heh or trump's history, or trump's actions since inauguration, or... anything, really. Shit all over our international connections and chop the head off the NSA (and everything else) and then demand they run around like a chicken with its head conveniently chopped off is exactly what was laid out as intended policy :V

In another political test for Trump, Russia appears to have deployed a new cruise missile system in violation of an arms control treaty.

We also have a handful of Congressional republicans calling for further investigations of Flynn.

List of possible responses from Trump, not exhaustive:
1) FAKE NEWS! Failing New York Times is lying again!
2) It was made by Obama, and we were going to re-negotiate it anyway.
3) We've broken that treaty earlier, anyway, because [insert conspiracy theory here]. America is the real murderer!

Pretty sure a 'friend' wouldn't be testing us like this.

Not sure, but Trump seems to be slowly realizing that Russia isn't a 'friend' as he might think.

@palsch: Considering his bumbling around and being an amateur, it's not surprising that he's coming off weak. He hasn't even filled up the deputy and onwards positions completely, which is making things harder for him. The booting of Flynn should bring some stability to things though. It's primarily a result of him being a complete newb to all this.

As for his supporters, they're staying optimistic atm, but that won't last.

Well, you're partially right - but Trump doesn't do "slowly". According to the recent White House press-conference as reported by RIA Novosty, one of the main Russian media organization, in the words of Spencer, "Trump has clearly indicated that he expects Russian government to de-escalate situation in Ukraine and return Crimea".

So, uh, how do we unelect him back?

That'd be some feat of irony if Trump of all people managed to create a complete breakdown of US-Russian relations.

+5 flashpoint tension in Crimea.

All these proceedings gives the term "Russian Roulette" a whole new meaning.

I think you mean Spicer, not Spencer.

Anyways, it also kind of sounds like the Russians are starting to have a case of 'buyers remorse' since things aren't actually getting better like they thought things might. But it's in Putins interest to not have great relations.

edit: And apparently a Russian spy ship has been spotted off the coast of Delaware. No idea how commonly they do that, but it must be pretty unusual these days for it to be breaking news.

It would be the flotilla of spy ships off the coast of Nebraska that would be the most worrying.  For several reasons...  ;)

Flynn was interviewed by the FBI in the early days of the administration. At the time he was maintaining he had not discussed sanctions on the calls, at least publicly. If he made the same statements to the FBI, meet 18 USC §1001. That would be a much more likely criminal angle than the Logan Act.

The OGE has recommended action be taken against Conway for her violation of ethics rules. It would be up to the White House to actually do anything, but at least some bodies are watching and calling them out.

No obvious Asia-based thread (I'm sure there is one, but it lies beyond my first frenzy of searching) so let's put it here and say that I wonder if this'll add to the US's (and even Trump's) general frowning at Best Korea's distegard for how it appears on the world stage.

Consider this folks: Trump's staff are resigning and he hasn't even gotten them all confirmed yet. Tis amazing. Maybe the laws of political gravity aren't dead yet.
Quote
This week, just 24 days into his official tenure as Trump’s national security chief, Flynn was forced to resign after a series of leaks methodically stripped away every assertion the administration was using to protect Flynn’s position, much as a chess player deprives an opponent of every move except resignation.

“Flynn didn’t talk about sanctions with the Russian ambassador.”

“Yes he did.”

“It was only in passing.”

“No, it was at the heart of the conversation.”

“The White House didn’t know.”

“Yes it did, and it was explicitly told there was a potential for blackmail.”
