We have been fighting the war on lightning by staying inside and inactive more.  Unfortunately the total amount of money spent by the videogame, movie, tv, and internet media industries are hard to get solid numbers on I assume.

I know you're being tongue-in-cheek, but that's Federal funding, pretty much all research on car accidents have been done by non-government groups. And that's only a single year snapshot anyhow.

Watch it magically take until Trump's appointee takes the chair until it begins.

Also is this the fastest time from 0 to supreme court trial for a president?

Probably. They haven't actually decided their next move though.

SCOTUS still needs to accept the case, and they might not, especially because the lower court ruled unanimously.

WIth his 'so-called judge' remark, Trump seems to have basically turned the entire justice system against him, including his own SCOTUS nominee (although that might just be a smart move of the latter to improve his chances of Senate approval)

The start of the (official) work in Congress over confirming the SCOTUS nominee is still something like six weeks away though.

Even if this case takes until Gorsuch is confirmed to get to the Court, and even if the Court accepts it, Gorsuch isn't changing the balance of the court. Scalia was fairly rightward-aligned, and Gorsuch appears to be fairly close to Scalia in alignment. In essence, we'd have the same Supreme Court that we've had for years, and I can't see the Court of 2014 or 2015 arguing with the 9th Circuit here.

It's sort of weird, as the court has not ruled on a topic of this nature in...quite a while. I'm not sure if uncharted territory is a good or a bad thing for the court's judgement. They all seem like decent and rational people (except Thomas).

The general situation is generally unprecedented for the sloppy way that the EO was rushed through. Seems like this kind of thing would spend a few weeks in review.

Look we all know all it takes to be a judge is to walk into a court room with a nametag that says "Judge" on it.

Well, not a judge. But specific sorts of judges, yeah, pretty much. Some of our judicial positions are determined by popular election. Conceptually you don't even need the name tag :V

Having a thing with the word "Judge" on it can be more trouble than it's worth...  ;)
