On the other hand, apparently Baltimore has stopped its trial scheme of flying planes with hi-res cameras over various suburbs, for anti-crime/pro-policing surveillance.

Citing various concerns about disproportionate targetting of certain racial groups, they decided to end the pilot.

Nah, they just tripped over an old scam, unfortunately. For all its hype, the gme thing is looking increasingly like it was mostly non-hedge fund folks getting played real hard, basically just a mild variation of ye' old pump and dump with some added theater.

It has been pretty damn cyberpunk, tho', that's true enough. Just less money glitch and more megacorps fleecing the masses

It's not even the first time popular uprising has triggered a short squeeze, it happened in the 20s with a convenience store chain.  Same as any other get-rich-quick irrational market clusterfuck, the people in on it at the beginning and the big boys got rich, the people who heard about it on twitter got wiped out.  Speaking of the 20s, an old adage:  if the shoeshine kid is giving you stock tips it's time to get out.

The real money glitch was robinhood's infinite margin trick, but that was a while ago.  No idea what happened to those guys.  Guessing Robinhood forgave their seven-figure debt in exchange for a ban and/or SEC blacklist.
