I think we just hit another level of desperation.

He can declassify whatever he wants however he wants, though theres normally a check and balance (though the government has a major tendency to overclassify).

They claim that it's an effort of transparency, but it certainly does come off as desperation and/or looking for ammo.

Hopefully there isn't anything that could risk lives or reveal methods, that's the main worry. Though someone on CNN said that the DOJ has lowered their credibility with classification because there was some stuff that was classified that got unclassified, but it all turned out to just be stuff that would be embarassing, not sources or methods.

The Judicial Committee will have the accuser come forward to testify on Monday, a week from today. I recall reading Kavanaugh will also return to testify, but I cannot source that at the moment. Presumably, this means they've also decided to delay the vote that was scheduled for this Thursday. Trump has more-or-less given the delay a shrug of acceptance (presumably he's more interested in Florence, or complaining about Puerto Rico), while McConnell is much angrier.

It's not yet clear that the Monday hearing will actually happen as the accuser (or their lawyer) hasn't responded back to Sen. Grassley about it.

Also, several Senators (well, at least two, Corker and Murkowski) have said that they need to treat both Ford and Kavanaugh respectfully (along with the subtext of not turning it into a circus) during the Monday hearing. So, if the Monday hearing does happen, we'll see if it does become a circus.
