He just went full fascist

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/832708293516632065

NEVER GO FULL FASCIST
Tbh, I just like how he said to the entire country that he's not one of us, right there. Remember folks, if they're not your enemy, but they are an enemy of the american people, that means you're not one of said people :V

Wait, wait. Does that count as a confession of non-citizenship?
The reasonable approach would be them making sure the offer isn't made (or order isn't given I guess) without him being sure to accept it.
While true, if we were dealing with a set of individuals prone to reasonable approaches (or at least notably avoidant of unreasonable ones), we probably wouldn't be having this discussion, heh.

No surprise that Gen. Petraeus is dropping out.

On asking KT McFarland, Trump does like to go around asking people their opinions and what they think, so, that isn't neccesarily a sign of what Trump would pick.

Even if McMaster can't say no to the position, what's important is saying no to Trump for dumb stuff, and from wiki, it sounds like he's the type to speak out if people are doing dumb stuff.

Though if Bolton does get picked and he really did withhold intel from President Bush and he does that with Trump, seems like a recipe for disaster.

want to take the most biased poll ever?

https://gop.com/mainstream-media-accountability-survey/

its enough to make you cringe. and yes its real.

I started doing it, and putting yes on everything and selecting everything for the lulz, then I saw you have to put your email in. Nope, not gonna give Trump my email.

I've got a humdinger of a (valid!) email address that I'm gonna give.  (Also a ZIP for it.)  PPE: Next page is a "thank you, now would you also make a donation?" page.

BTW,  "Do you believe that people of faith have been unfairly characterized by the media?" -  which faith? Which polarity of mischaracterisation?  No useful analysis could come of these questions if you tried...  (Or extensive use and then analysis of the Other field freetext answers was to be made. Which I doubt will happen.)

More on McFarland and how she is viewed inside the beltway. It's an honest believe that she will get people killed.

A detailed story about the marginalisation of the State Department. It goes into a lot of the internal conflicts and rifts in the administration as well. It sounds very much like this story is coming from Tillerson's camp, with a lot of it focusing on his having been promised input on ambassador appointments then them being named by Priebus instead.

A radical suggestion is that Tillerson. Pompeo and Mattis should bypass the White House and use Schedule A and B hiring to directly pack their departments with temporary staff that let them at least function in the short term. Schedule A in particular seems to allow any role to be filled for 30 days in a "critical need" situation. This would mostly be to put in place the processes missing without an effective NSC. It would be interesting to see a more substantial discussion of this given I'm really not familiar with the law her and can hardly imagine the potential fallout.

Yes it's at a point where people are working out how department secretaries can bypass the White House to do their fucking jobs.

Trump would probably get mad at them for circumventing him, though he HAS said that he would give the cabinet postions a great deal of independence. So, I have no idea how he would actually react.

Cool, I feel the same way. I think it'll make it easier to focus on the real criminals (the adults running/paying for it) and help the children recover.

I'm glad that people are busily fucking with the poll, how could the GOP (Grabbers Of Pussy?) have expected otherwise nowadays, marblecake also the game anyone? Incidentally if you google it, only google the whole term or just 2009 Times poll, not the first word by itself, yeeugh, that's pretty gross even for 4chan.

The California thing I can remember hearing about a while back and thought surely this was just people picking key words to get up in arms over and ignoring the context entirely.

Previously if you managed to get away from the dude making you, a minor, perform sex acts for money, found your way to someone you thought might help like a police officer, you could end up with criminal charges against you for it.

Now you are treated as a victim like say, kids sold for sex overseas, and protected accordingly while they go after the shitbags responsible. This is a good thing, focusing on something you feel is wrong and pursuing it relentlessly is not always the best course of action. Like going after the dude who got caught with a folder of kiddie porn and being happy when he is locked up, ignoring the ring he got it from, the people who supply the images to the rings, people who sell kids for those people, the sorts of folks who it is actually worth setting up massive efforts to hunt down and crucify. A hundred dudes with cp on their computers vs one dude selling little girls and boys who end up being used and wind up with their pictures on said computers, seems like an obvious priority which one to vigorously pursue to me.

Busting the girls and boys who are trying to avoid a beating from their pimp isn't going to help anything, but making it possible to rescue them and pursue the fuckers who deserve to rot in a cold dark pit... that can do some good.

Sounds about right. It's still pedophilia, but now the children aren't also criminals.

So, yes, it made it "legal" in the sense that children can no longer be prosecuted for child prostitution. It's still illegal due to the substantial legal overlap in that area, but now the children aren't additionally criminals.

If someone tosses me a link to the bill I could probably do more explaining, though I doubt it'd be necessary.

It's also a necessary patch on the absurd situation where a minor gets charged more harshly than an adult would because they trafficked in a minor (themselves).

There's a different type of case where e.g. a 16 year old boy and girl were sexting each other nude pics of themselves. Now, they've charged the boy as an adult, and is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor (himself), and possession of child pornography (himself and herself). So it's a bizarre situation where a 16 year old minor who snaps nude pics of themselves can be charged with felony child pornography of themselves - because they're a minor - yet the felony law says they are legally an adult as well.
