It's not fair to say that tax cuts never pay for themselves, just that Republican tax cuts almost certainly won't. The thing is the United States doesn't have high enough taxes that cutting taxes will increase revenue, so American tax cuts will never pay for themselves.

Yep. Regardless of the intent, when you make a statement as benign as "It's okay to be [race]." -- that is, that you aren't wrong or evil, that you shouldn't be ashamed because of the circumstances of your birth, and people describe that as race-baiting or hate speech? They didn't say "White power!" "Being white is great!" or "14 88" or any shit like that.

I mean, jfc, imagine if you had people (not just people, but folks speaking on the behalf of government-funded institutions) reacting like this to "Being black is okay". That sounds like fucking rural Alabama Jim Crow days. And yet here it's something that people have and will try to defend.

Because people think when they see that statement that it's part of an implied larger statement. That it's okay to be racist, or that white people are always in the right, or that it's not okay to not be white. That's not what it says, but that IS what some people THINK it says.

There's no doubt that people hide behind dogwhistling. It's like the next evolution of racism now that the public is more aware of implicit racist attitudes. Though with 4chan it's less dogwhistling and what I've been calling "tee hee racism". That's your "why do you reject racial science" or "how can society exist if it doesn't have an identity" kind of half-trolling that's hiding a swastika for the moment you say anything that sounds like agreement.
