Stephen was born the third son of a Calydonean Viscount. Since he stood to inherit little of his parents' estate and showed little aptitude for combat, he was instead raised to be a practitioner of the fine arts. Painting, singing, playing piano, all that.
He took to it quite well. He was blessed with a good singing voice, and a certain amount of talent for inspiring the "feeling" he wants to with his art. But he feels it's missing something. A certain soul. Genuine-ness, even. As though he can't reach the hearts of the people without having experienced what it is to be one of "the people". So he went on an expedition, to do the whole Wandering Minstrel bit. It's proved quite educational. He's learned folk songs and sailor shanties instead of just noble ballads. He's learned the hardships and stories of the people. And he's learned to run the heck away from angry drunk people because he is completely worthless in a fistfight.
Stephen's wanderings have found him on the figurative doorstep of one Lady Argaven, and that is where we pick up our story...
