the word "lock" is included in the word "deadlock", therefore a possible way to "lock" this thread is to somehow make it devolve into a circular discussion that never goes anywhere - aka. AmeriPol on an average day.

One could argue we are already there, by continually discussing the not-locked state of this thread, thus making the thread entirely self-referential and as such, circular.
