: "Ah, well...that woman who ran just now? She took offense to my compliments and had me thrown in the prison. Life sentence."

"That seems... strange. Are you sure you didn't accidentally insult her?"

[Sirus]

: "I tried to compare her to a summer's sky, but she scowled and turned away. That is when I noticed the spider on her head, and I thought to myself..."

: "'Gilbert you old so-and-so, by rescuing the damsel from such a terrifying beast, you may form a better impression of yourself! Might even get a kiss for a reward!'"

: "But when I tried to stop her to remove the spider, she slapped my face. The guards dragged me away tout de suite, I guess she was the local royalty or something."

"Well some people don't like being touched... Did you tell her there was a spider?"

[Sirus]

: "I tried! She would not listen, and I am not so cruel as to simply leave it there as punishment for rudeness. Taking her hand - which I admit I would have been happy to do under better circumstances - was my last hope."

"You would think one of her guards would have noticed."

[Sirus]

: "Probably too busy making sure the locals do not try to stick a knife in her."

"Fair point."

[SOLDIER First]

"That just reminded me... why would someone so high-profile not bother to bring a healer with them?"

"Well it's not as if healers grow on trees."

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "We're pretty lucky, we have two."

[Sirus]

: "For all I know she supports that foolish magic ban you people have been talking about. Well, so much the worse for her."

[SOLDIER First]

"Well it's not as if healers grow on trees."

"I know, but for someone of her clearly immense stature" - his words ooze sarcasm - "I would have expected one."

"Mm. Good point. What's even the cause behind the ban, anyway?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"As near as I can tell it's the incoming council. Some of the people in power want magic, some don't, and the next vote might put more of the 'don't want's in power than the 'do want's. That's the way I understand it."

[SOLDIER First]

"Oh, I see. Great."

"Politics." He practically spits the word.
