"How can you tell if someone's self-satisfied from a hole they put in a wall?"

"Oh, I can just tell with these sort of things. I'm very talented in that regard. In fact, it's  like they're standing right by me. Ava."

[Chevaleresse]

"You must be pretty observant, then."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Dale snorted as he remembered Ava running about with some book she'd found and asking if anyone knew anything about it.

  "Ah. Explains that then doesn't it!"

  "Good for you Ava."

[SOLDIER First]

"It was impressive, I have to say. Never quite got the chance to try out a tome."

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "Maybe we can get you one of those 'light' tomes one of these days. I think I heard something about priests like yourself can't use any other kind."

[SOLDIER First]

"In name only, for the time being. I have the suspicion there aren't any churches around that would take me in at the moment."

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "I don't see the problem. You're more useful to have around than some uptight guy in a robe preaching at our enemies, know what I mean?"

[SOLDIER First]

"Well, I suppose you're right."

"Even if I am the uptight guy who preaches at his allies instead."

[Sirus]

: "Why, Monsieur Grouchy, that almost sounded like a joke! I am pleased to know that you are not one of those types that think humor is an invention of the devil."

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "Could've swore that was Eric!"

Dale chuckled for a few moments at his own joke, but he didn't mean any offense toward either of them by it. It was just part of his nature. He put a hand on his hip and scratched the back of his head with the other one.

  "Ah, well. Figures it would take two of you to balance me out, so we got a good group dynamic going on here."

Eric was not facing the rest of the group, but made a face anyway.

[SOLDIER First]

"Of course not. I love humor."

"Except when it's not funny. Or at my own expense. Jokes that are both of those things are an invention of the devil. I'll see you all in hell."

While it was probably a joke, Caius' flat delivery made it more of a question that it should be. He then looked to Dale, a little confused.

"What do you mean by two of us?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "You and Eric, of course. I like both of you but you could stand to unwind a few degrees, know what I mean?"

[SOLDIER First]

Caius looked (yet again) as if he was about to make a snappy reply, but seemed to think better of it. He sighs.

"...yeah. I guess you're right."
