"I don't think I'm really qualified to influence your decision." Cedric had, at one point, hired a tutor to teach Eric the basics of magic and test to see if he had any potential for it. He hadn't, and Eric had retained very little that a seasoned mercenary wouldn't know. "That said, if you think you need both, I would say get both. As long as you can carry it all without slowing down, having more weapons is better."

Now that there was a bit of time without soldiers knocking about - well, there were, in fact she sat down on top of one who was currently lying facedown and unconscious, but they didn't matter - and she had no other obligations for the moment. She flipped through the Worm tome idly, frowning at it. That stupid ditz. . . Why is it that she can just throw magic around willy nilly? Still, I guess I won't catch up unless I actually make an attempt. . .

She mumbled an incantation listed in the tome out loud, and made an irritable flicking gesture with one hand. She would have continued reading if a zapping sound followed by one of something slamming into a brick wall made her look up to see the tail end of a purplish glow fading away after putting a hole into a house that was definitely not her fault whatsoever.

"Finally! I should go tell. . ."
". . ."
"Maybe I'll leave it a surprise."

She nonchalantly walked into the shop that everyone else seemed to be gathering in.

Dale finally got back to town just in time to see the result of Ava's little experiment, if not the cause. He dismounted his horse - he wasn't sure if he ought to name it or not; he wasn't even sure he was going to keep it after the job - and tied the reins to a handy hitching post. A quick search found his allies in a shop and he strolled on in.

  "I'm back. Y'all got the supplies sorted out? Because someone outside threw some magic around and I'm thinking we missed one."

[Sirus]

: "Ah, wonderful! I was beginning to worry your people had not gotten around to inventing these yet."

Gilbert buys a Bowgun!

: "A bit simple, but it should suffice for the present. Now, where did my steed run off to...?"

[Swordstar]

"But Dale... They were after mages. Why would they have a magic user if they're trying to get ridof magic? Are you sure it wasn't something else?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "Something put a big-ass hole in someone's wall, and I didn't see any heavy equipment in town that could do it."

  "'Course, maybe you just missed somebody once."

[Chevaleresse]

Ava did her best to not react visibly with the mixture of pride and nervousness that she felt at the moment. Unfortunately, it was fairly obvious that she was preening ever so slightly. "I dunno, but we should probably finish shopping before that really attractive mage comes back."

[SOLDIER First]

Caius, who was outside the entire time, laughs.

"I'd agree with you, but it's rude to talk about people who aren't present."

[Sirus]

: "So you saw this mage then? Or can you judge attractiveness by holes left in walls?"

Eric groaned. "Well whoever this woman is, hopefully she pays for the damage she caused."

[SOLDIER First]

"What, you really want to know? ...well, she wasn't unattractive, I'll say as much. She left in a hurry."

[Chevaleresse]

"It was a sexy hole."

[SOLDIER First]

"I suppose the woman who who made it would be delighted to hear to hear that."

"Oh, I'm sure she's already self satisfied to an aggravating degree."

"How oddly specific."
