"Ah... yes. Tie him up. We didn't kill any of the men here today. No need to start. And... and my name is Sea. Not 'the apprentice.' But... but I suppose it's not overly important to you. Uhm... "

She trailed off and blushed quietly for a few seconds before continuing, turning to Dale and Eric and the others.

"I suppose that... In fighting for my master, you will need equipment and the like. We have 2000 gold. If anyone needs anything, the shops here have decent prices if I remember correctly."

[Sirus]

Two...thousand gold? Not the total funds of the expedition but the leftovers from a discount? Gracious, but this ragtag group was well-funded.

: "Does, er, does that include me as well?"

[Swordstar]

"Oh, well... Do you and the other prisoner want to work for my master? She pays well and is mostly reasonable... I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I hired some newcomers. Not after you helped us. And have no more reason to be a fan of the authorities than we do right now..."

[Sirus]

Their master was a woman? This deal was sounding better and better.

: "Oh...I suppose you have convinced me. It would be my honor."

[SeriousConcentrate]

  "All righty then. Hear that? These good folks are putting your life in Dale Barton's hands, so you don't have much to worry about. You know what I mean?"

Dale laughed softly to himself as he pet the horse's mane before turning to the downed guard and putting him across the horse's back. He mounted up and rode out of town.

  "As for you. I don't like people abusing authority, and I damn sure don't like them getting in my business, know what I mean? Good luck."

After riding a good while in the opposite direction from their destination, he dumped the guard in a ditch and started heading back to town.

"If the woman you work for pays this much, hell yeah I'm in."

Eric sighed, and looked at the new hires. He was fairly certain that the current situation had been precisely what he had counseled against. Whatever. It won't affect my payment. Eric spoke loud enough for the whole group to hear him. "Who here doesn't have a full satchel of medicine? Aside from weapons, which we all seem to have, our first priority should be making sure we're equipped to handle a situation where either the healer- healers, rather- are down, or can't reach one of us in time."

[Sirus]

: "A full bottle of medicine here. Should come in handy."

[Chevaleresse]

"I'm alright over here." She was trying her hardest to not go bug-eyed over the gold. A part of her screamed to just bundle it all up and run off with it; it would keep her set for a long time. Maybe even enough to go get a real place to live and a real job. The main thing fighting back against that was the prospect of getting even more as she went along with the group.

"Well if that's all you need me for I'll begin loading my supplies. And be quick about your shopping, I intend to get to Sybil's mansion today if time will allow it." With that he disappeared into the building.

[Swordstar]

Sea nodded to the man and then glanced around at the others.

"I'm going to go check out the shop. If you all want money for the armory, feel free to ask. We all need equipment after all."

She glanced worriedly at the bracelet around her right wrist. The green gem was still glowing, but obviously less than it previously had been. She needed to find a new tome to steal spells from, that much was sure.

"What's with all these people coming to my shop? You ought to be hiding dearie, the military's about." Despite this, the woman's sign was still in view on her counter.

With no one else reporting a lack of medicine, Eric followed Sea into the shop. "Once you're done in here I'd like you to accompany me to the armory."

"Well, uhm, actually the military isn't out there anymore! They're all gone... For now at least. Or... Or unconscious. Still, I think I will buy a tome from you. While I still can. You know they're looking for magical items, right? You might be safer if you left the area. There's no ban yet, but that's not stopping them..."

She glanced over at Eric as he came in the door and nodded.

"Certainly I could do that. Though I'm trying to decide... What do you think? I'm down to about half the wind magic I started with going off the glow, but I also am completely lacking fire or thunder magic... Though fire never was my strong suit. Maybe I could buy both..."
