"I know little of magic, as I am Viper caste. Do these spell-gems work for anyone? Even one not god-touched, like me?"

"They should... Well, the ones that my master makes. I'm not sure if mine can... You could try though. If you wanted."

She slipped a bracelet off her wrist and offered it to the warrior.

[GiglameshDespair]

Quetz slipped it on, the bracelet joining the other gold bands around the arm of the Textitlanian. She held out her arm, and narrowed her brows in focus.

Nothing seemed to happen.

"..."
"Nothing...?"

[Swordstar]

"Oh... I... I may have misunderstood her. You might need some basic magical ability... It might just be you don't need magical training. But need magical ability... Sorry..."

[GiglameshDespair]

"..."
"Oh."

[I_Like_Pi]

Sensing that the conversation had come to a close, Gilbert decided to try and find Sybil.

"What is it you wanted, Gilbert?"

"You are welcome."

"If you are finished we can continue our discussion from a few days ago. Or did you have something else you wanted to speak about?"

[Caellath]

"I would like to continue that conversation, actually. I am interested in the kind of mishaps you found while trying to control alloy-based golems." he glanced at Gibert. "...Though I can wait for a moment since I intend to occupy much of your time."

[Sirus]

: "Ah yes, Mademoiselle Sybil. Could I ask for a word..." Gilbert's eyes shifted over to the man in the creepy mask. "...in private, perhaps?"

[Caellath]

"I can wait for that to be taken care of since I do intend to have a longer conversation with her." Drest said after noticing Gilbert's glance.

[Sirus]

After Drest leaves, Gilbert studied Sybil for a moment before speaking.

: "I wish to know what your plans are after this ambitious idea of yours comes to fruition. What will the first act of Queen Sybil be once the land is under her control?"

[I_Like_Pi]

As Sybil spoke about her plans anger seeped into her voice.

"The first thing that I'll do is rid this country of the contemptable Magic Ban. It's throttled any hope of magical progress in this country ever since it was enacted. It also displaces a sizeable portion of the population for at least five years at a time. If this country is ever going to have a chance of standing on its own the Magic Ban needs to be discontinued permanently."

[Sirus]

Gilbert nodded. That, at least, was something he agreed with.

: "Very commendable. Of course, ending a silly law will not be putting food on the plates of the commonfolk. The country will be quite the mess once all is said and did. How do you propose to deal with this?"

[I_Like_Pi]

"I do not intend to change much about the how the country is run. Nobles who swear allegiance to me may keep their lands and may continue to govern them as they do now. There will be very little change aside from the number of people ruling, or at least that is my plan. As for the clean up after this affair, I've already arranged for help; though from who I will not say. Regardless, they will handle things like dealing with potential dissidents and protection of the citizenry while I settle into my new role and the country begins to heal."

[Sirus]

Gilbert pondered who this "help" could be. Someone from his own country?

: "Well. I suppose that is a start. I must say however, my mind would be much eased if I knew who your benefactors were. Alas."

With a bow, Gilbert produced a rose and offered it to the usurper-to-be.

: "For the time being, at least, you have my services."

[I_Like_Pi]

After a brief moment of pondering where Gilbert kept his roses, Sybil accepted his rose.

"I'm glad I can count on your continued service. Did you have anything else you wanted to ask me about?"
