The Cave
« on: January 16, 2017, 12:14:12 pm »

You are a rock climber named Tim. You live in the city of [REDACTED], and just outside of town is Mount [REDACTED], a nice, sloping 2,000 meter peak. Seeing that mountain all your life fostered a love of rock climbing, all in the hope that you would reach the peak. Now, it isn't all too high for a mountain, there are plenty of taller ones, and going to the peak is a fairly popular activity. However, you weren't interested in the peak. The western face is very jagged and craggy, and the steep slope is dotted with caves. No, those caves were your goal. You had heard that the caves contain some incredible water formations, seen only by a few climbers who had gone without cameras. Now, after months of preparing, you cling to the edge of the mountain, right in front of a cave opening roughly halfway up. Wind shrieks up the mountain, bringing a chill with it, despite your warm clothing. This is it, time to explore!

Flipping on the lamp, the high power lights reveal a rocky, but even floor, which gently slopes downward. Piles of snow, and a few small pools of near clear water sit near the entrance. Judging from the melting snow, the cave is at least above freezing. Several meters in, small stalagmites begin to climb up, culminating in several ones about half a meter tall, right at the crest of a sharp drop. From deeper within the cave, you hear the light sound of water flowing and dripping. Other than that, nothing really jumps out at you as being all intere- is that a bullet casing? ...huh. Near to the entrance, in a small pool of water, lies a slightly rusted casing for what you think is pistol. Who would bring a gun to a cave? Who would fireone in a cave? Not too good on the ears or the geological structure. Well, odd, anyway.

Head on down into the cave, but
Proceed with caution.

We should peer over the ledge.

 Take bullet casing

Also, if we're not against hurting caves, snap off a stalagmite and throw it down the cliff.

Oh god I've seen this movie.

Unless we find a ring with glowing symbols on it, it doesn't end well for us.

Why didn't we bring a camera either?  :-\  We could have been the first annoying tourist of these caves photographing everything!

Curious, you pick up the small bullet casing. stuffing it in a pocket, you carry on, carefully creeping on the slick cave floor. The area seems completely untouched by humanity, and all the minor rock formations look healthy and growing. You then peer out over the ledge, one hand steadying your helmet to keep it from falling. The cave continues down at a high angle, near straight down, until about 10 meters below, where the rock seems to 'pinch' together at an opening about four feet tall, before winding further at a more level state. From hear, the noise of the water is slightly louder. You can just imagine the magnificence that could be down there, unseen by nearly ever- oh goddamn it. You forgot the camera. Ugh. Well, even then, you can juts bring a camera next time, once you've mapped out all the cool photo spots.

Attatch rope to nearby stalagmite and use it to climb down the ledge.

(Also you didn't add bullet casing to inventory fyi) thanks for the fix

+1, But first make sure the stalagmite won't break from our weight by pulling on it with rope.

Maybe go back and get a camera, and report the bullet casing, because that's just weird.
