I got some sort of weird thing going on here sometimes where the forum doesn't seem to recognize my inputs. It says the message field is empty despite it being full.

I'll have a post for you guys tomorrow; sticking you in the bore.

I have had the same problem going on in my game actually. I think it's mostly the Russian characters in that one.

Before I make a character, a quick few questions:
-Do we get any additional gear when starting out, or just any class specific starting items? How does gear acquisition in general work anyway?
-The classes that start with items instead of stat bonuses, can they trade in their items later for money, or is their starting perk basically wasted once they get better gear?

Otherwise it seems like not taking a stat bonus is a waste in the medium to long term. Then again, having good stats but lacking the kit to use it can be a problem until you struggle through that first expedition.

Also, it seems the psychic classes (the eye disk dude/mole) have a (small?) advantage in starting with both a class specific item that also has a combat use and another combat tool. But, all this is just conjecture, so w/ever.

I found the issue! It's a bug with Simple Machines Forums 2.0.12:

Do the posts start with a series of BBC entries?   If so, it's a known issue that will be patched in 2.0.13 shortly

I really like the engineheart conecptually, but being completely excluded from resurrection/ghosting without getting some kind of passive resistance in return seems like a terrible deal. I mean, you could just take the civilian with +10 endure and not get any of the drawbacks. Or am I missing some kind of upside to the engineheart here?

Any class that gives an item of +10 can be cheesed by picking civvie with a straight +10 to the skill, see also: engineer vs civvie with +10 build.

For me, at least, that is the upside.

It's Dev, for him the only way the class could be improved is if the first failed roll resulted in a sub-megaton nuke going of inside him.

I may make it so that civie only gains +5 instead then, to even it out.  I don't want anything to be overall better than anything else. Or I may just boost the engine heart bonus to +20.
