The Neotokyo OST is legendary in my book. An ost for a half life mod has no right to be this great, but it is.

This isn't just my favorite soundtrack but some of my favorite music in general.

Probably Hotline Miami. M.O.O.N. - Hydrogen in particular. A similar soundtrack, that of Payday 2, is also a favourite. Here "The Mark" is my favourite track.

There are plenty of other great soundtracks out there, but these two are the only games I can remember right now that made me lose focus on gameplay because I was busy listening to the music. :D

Deadbolt OST

Undertale OST

Halo 1/2/3 OSTs

Hyper Light Drifter OST -- not really to listen to on its own, but damn is it a great mood-setter in game.

Bioshock Infinite old-time versions of more modern songs. Some are just outright better than their original performances.

any TES:'xxx' OST.

Ooh, a music thread? Let me throw in some battle themes I like:

Tales of Symphonia - Fighting of the Spirit and Fatalize are two of my favorite battle themes ever.

For something classier, Sophisticated Fight from The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. It still feels appropriate for battle, but it's also weirdly... laid back. I dunno, but I never get tired of listening to it.

Then there's Thorn In You (Roar), my personal favorite from Fire Emblem: Fates. All of the battle themes in that game are pretty glorious, but this one is simultaneously sad and intense, and I think hits pretty hard even without the context of what's happening in the game when it plays.

Hyper Light Drifter is worth linking - I listen through it from time to time, and I've never even played the game. Is that cheating?
All of the Sims, although 4 felt a little lacking. I know it's intentionally corny-nostalgic, but damn if the quality isn't up there. Particularly memorable for me is Solstice of the Ancients from 3
Starbound and Terraria, though things got repetitive, hold a special place for me.
The Civilization games, all of them.
Daggerfall, Morrowind, wasn't a fan of Oblivion's or Skyrim's really except for a few tracks.
Do mods count? Elegia Eternum and Excrucio Eternum (couldn't find a link) from Neverwinter Nights, both with soundtracks put together by the modder so doubly impressive.

I really enjoy the Grim Dawn soundtrack for some reason. Way back I used to find some of the Might & Magic RPG soundtracks very good.

Am I the only one who likes happy, upbeat music?

Not at all. This was in my playlist for the longest time.

I must bring years of quiet lurking to an end, in order to mention Banner Saga

It has, in my mind, the best sound track I've ever experienced, and it's  even better when experienced within the game itself - the artistic production and cohesion of that game is really phenomenal.

The little bit that sounds like A Cruel Angel's Thesis in Sophisticated Fight always throws me for a loop, it's probably intentional.
For other good Tales of... music, you have Fury Sparks from Vesperia, along with the winter region battle theme and What Was Born Inside That Door from Graces as notables.

Moonquake from Monster Hunter 3 always struck me as feeling very primordial and monumental, fitting music for hunting an ancient tribal deity figure.

Etrian Odyssey was mentioned previously in the thread and those games have fantastic soundtracks, including the Super Arrange albums. That smooth jazz remix of City of Radiant Ruin is a favorite.

Another DS soundtrack that I love, and one that seems to have flown under everyone's radar, was for The Dark Spire. The game even came with an included music CD.
Battle -Special-
1st & 2nd Floors
1st Floor Underground

Falcom consistently nails it with the soundtracks to their games, with the most obvious example being the Ys series.
Ys Origin - Genesis Beyond The Beginning
Ys: Oath in Felghana - Valestein Castle
Ys: Oath in Felghana - A Searing Struggle
Ys: Memories of Celceta - Ancient Land
Ys: Memories of Celceta - The Morning After the Storm
