"As your associate pointed out, the person just needed to die in great pain. They need not have burned to death or be murdered by you. And when I say great pain, I mean extreme pain, physical or otherwise. Death via blunt-force trauma is not nearly enough pain."

"Is there some reason why we should expect to find the remains of someone who died in such absolute agony here in particular? Maybe something here that will try to kill us in a particularly agonizing way?"

The wizard shrugs his shoulders. "You asked if I wanted anything in particular. I know nothing more about this island than you do. Will there be any more questions?"

"I have a question. Is there a way you could take this damn spirit out of my head? If so, what would I need to do before you got it out?"

[DolosusDoleus]

"I'm a wizard, not a miracle worker. Talk to  the captain about it, if you think he'll listen."

The storm grow and grows as the group approaches the cabin, and the temperature drops and drops. By the time everyone is within the cabin, the temperature has surely dropped below freezing. You will need to find heat, or risk freezing to death.

The inside of the cabin is disheveled, papers strewn about carelessly. Up against the walls are a safe, a sturdy cabinet, a wooden desk, and an extinguished fireplace. Across the room are two doors, one hanging slightly open, the other firmly shut.

Juniper walks over to the closed door and kicks it down without even trying the knob.

"Open says me!"

He follows Juniper.

Lyssha shivers a bit and strides over to the fireplace.

Get a fire started.

Appearance: A large man, but neither exceptionally fat or strong. He speaks little, but watches everything. His face is scarred from many fights - ones that he never speaks of - which bear their marks on his tattered clothes as well.
Reason for debt to the Guild: Guild bailed him out from jail after he was arrested for attempting to assasinate a public figure.

"That's not good." Gasozein walks over to the open door and closes it, noting whether it opens in or outwards. If the doors open in, he braces them with furniture before walking over and trying to open the safe and cabinet and then the desk, reading through papers and searching for items of value or records that offer a hint of what went on here.

You fly at the door with a mighty kick, but alas you do nothing but crash into it with a great clash. Damn thing is sturdy!

Lyssa:

There's no wood in the fireplace! You'll need to get something that'll actually burn.

Sayla:

The papers are just some stationery marked "Rutgar Lumber Mill, Tommik Rutgar".

Gasozein:

Actually, the door appears to be stuck in place. Interesting...

The safe is sturdy and solid. You dn't kno much bout safes, butthi one looks extremely sturdy.

The drawers are just full of the same stationery that Sayla found, plus a book tited "Precious Gemstones".

Juniper looks somewhat embarassed.

"Uhh... heheh... that should have worked.

I wonder if it's unlocked..."

She tries the door handle instead.

"Sayla, could you try chopping down the desk for wood?"

Grab some paper and find something to light a fire with.

"Murderer! Make yourself useful and find out what was going on here." Gasozein grabs the most heavily written pages and hands them to Saevire before breaking off pieces of the desk and tossing them into the fireplace for Lyssa.

"That door over there won't close. Something weird is going on here. Anybody know anything about magic?" Gasozein says to the room. "Also, if we want this one open, just let me know. I say we leave it closed for now, but I'll break it if everyone would rather it be open." He stands poised in front of the closed door, ready to kick it down if the group decides that they do actually want it open.
