JesterQuest [SG]
« on: December 17, 2016, 03:22:02 pm »

Being the third son of some a merchant, you didn't have much going for you. Life was bland, dull, boring, and all other such words that you would probably know if you were the third son of someone cool, like a king or scholar. Even without excitement, you learned some numbers, and a few charismatic sales skills. So, boring boring boring, yadda yadda yadda- until some evil overlord from three towns over conquers the trading city you lived in. This had to be your time to shine! Thinking yourself the hero, you decided to defeat the overlord, and began your adventuring career by attempting to steal a sword from an evil guardsman. Lacking any sort of stealth or combat skills, you promptly failed. Along with thirty or so other wannabe heroes. For your crime, you were given a choice of three options. One, be executed. Two, manual labor in the worst possible conditions, for life. Three... become the Overlord's court jester. In seeking self preservation, you, of course, chose the third. Thus, you were handed a dumb looking suit, an equally dumb looking mask, and an order to come up with a funny nickname for yourself. Immediately, you were thrown into a cell on a strangely high-tech airship en route to the empire's capitol.

Well, how hard could it be?

First joke of the day! Time to get out the docter suit and the patient suit!

Doctor: Hello, did you come to see me with an eye problem?

Patient: Wow, yes, how can you tell?

Doctor: Because you came in through the window instead of the door.
Sorry if I didn't center in on it that much, but this is naming time, not joking time.

Hmm. Alliteration, maybe? 'Jerry Jester, the Miserable Meiser' sounds okay enough, to you. Anyway, after several hours of waiting in your cell, two guards in jet black armor drag you out into the halls by your arms. You get pulled out of the ship, off onto a dock that seems to be jutting out of a ridiculously huge castle. For a moment, you see the clusters of shops, houses, and other such buildings that populate the 'Lower City', as it were. Before getting to see anything else, a bag is slipped over your head, and you get dragged along further. Despite your lack of vision, you pick up on a couple of noticeable scents and sounds, including the ringing of hammer on metal, the scent of baking bread, and the further you go along, an overwhelming sense of evil. Then, you are unceremoniously dumped onto a red carpet, at the foot of a tall throne, one with a very imposing figure atop it. Black plate armor, red eyes, this guy's got everything!

"JESTER! AMUSE ME!"

Well, this is your time to shine!

Jerry gawks, and gives a shaking bow, before stuttering.

"A-as y-you wish my liege! Listen closely, and take what I say to heart, for this tale I tell is true!

There once lived a man in the land of Peru,
One night he dreamt he ate his own shoe,
And to his dismay when he awoke,
Found that his dream had come true!"

Upon finishing Jerry straightens his back and stares at the Overlord's feet, practically dripping with terror and sweat.

If poetry fails, attempt to dance a jig and grovel piteously at the same time.

I had a knock at my door earlier, it was a gaurd…

"Mr Cook?"

"Yes," I replied.

"I'm afraid your dog has just been reported to have chased someone on a cart."

I said, "That’s bullshit – my dog doesn’t have a cart!"
