Raioyris succors Hermia.

"That's a pleasant surprise. Thank you." Gilles accepted the sword and gave it a good, hard look while Johan gave his story. "We noticed it looked like you'd received silk stitches. Still, it's strange the giant spider hurt you only to keep you alive afterwards. Due to the noises, we didn't even have enough time to properly examine that strange scene after finding you. Maybe now."

"Solj, do you need to be taken to the surface to reload?"

"Depends how lucky you're feeling. There should be compatible ammo in this place somewhere."

[Caellath]

"We can try pushing a little deeper. I need to get my shop properly set up." Gilles replied to the talking gun. He sure hoped they'd find that ammo. Judging by all the different attacks Solj had been showing off, the merchant had started to think they could produce their own ammunition.

He turned his attention to Raioyris after something the other adventurer said finally registered in his mind. "Why is your mind a cheap hotel? Have you got even more spirits to house besides that one Eugenius wanted to kill you over?"

With a sly smile Raioyris answers. "No. Just the two, it seems.

At least so far..."

"I assume that they are currently copulating inside your skull, the filthy degenerates."

Gilles didn't know whether that was good or bad. Probably not so great since there was a splitting headache involved. Maybe they'd need to have a talk about the problems that came with hoarding. Specially when the thing being hoarded was intelligent and inhabiting your body.

"Rai, are you a spirit-hoarder? And is this new development the reason why Eugenius doesn't want to kill you anymore?" he asked, gesturing in the direction of the other Magician.

Raioyris laughs, "That's a sweet thought Solj, you can take that one to bed with you."

"They observe certain rights inside my head. I'm not depriving them. In fact I think they could probably rough me up pretty badly if they decided to usurp me together.

Aparently the latest spirit was a burden for Eugenius, according to his word.

Besides. I've got a purpose in mind, much like you have for those artifacts that keep entering your possession. The difference is my artifacts have sway with me. I don't intend to contradict their will-"

Raioyris replied, fondly studying Hermia who has since wobbled over.

"-not that your collection has a will to contradict. I mean unless you decide to pawn Solj."

[Egan_BW]

"I am the one who does the pwning, Raioyris."

[Caellath]

"Solj is too intelligent to be pawned. They're also quite uppity."

"In any case it's good you didn't kill each other and you apparently helped Eugenius. What do you lot say we try and examine the place we found Johan at? I'm still curious about that giant spider we've heard about and that unidentified object we found but didn't gather much information about."

[WunderKatze]

"It would be closer to the surface. I suppose it's about time to peruse the surface scene.

We are after all merchants of sorts.

Oh Solj, I can't argue there. Not after you planted a rubber bullet into my back and sent me skidding along."

"Rai, are you a spirit-hoarder? And is this new development the reason why Eugenius doesn't want to kill you anymore?" he asked, gesturing in the direction of the other Magician.

"Well, there is one detail I have kept hidden, but I suppose I am now at liberty," Eugenius glances toward Raioyris.

"During my bleak travels through the wilderness, I came across a man lying face-up at the side of the road. I took it upon myself to help him, but he vomited blood as soon as I stepped close to him, and soon after, I fell into a deep abyss out of nowhere...
I was trapped there by a demon of sorts. A cruel, heartless creature who did nothing but torture my dreamlike body day and night, and when it was over I would awaken, try to quench my thirst and hunger, and then once again I would fall into the torture pit and suffer anew."

"When I had resolved to kill myself, the demon conspired to stop me from doing so, but she had no means of restoring my health, and so she offered me a chance to escape the terror: to travel this world, and find a worthy host who had also found a spirit, one with the mythical power to heal her host.
The demon resolved to switch hosts. I knew the implication, that I would be killed in the process, but in desperation I accepted the chance to live a normal life. The demon would still haunt me in my sleep, but I at least found myself better off than those whose lives are a waking nightmare,"

He reaches into one of his book bags and pulls out an empty tome.
"Demon, do you hear me?" he stares into Raioyris' eyes. "This book was for you. Know that you did not break me." He slams it on the ground, and walks away with his friends.

"That's a surprising mess. I guess that means you did something good after all, Raioyris." One of the Absalom hardsuit's smaller arms patted the man's shoulder while Gilles' attention focused somewhere else.

On the group with Havelock and a wounded Arthur, to be more exact. "You're leaving now with them, right? How about some limited escort while we backtrack for a moment?"

Is Eugenius' group leaving the corpse behind? Hopefully not. Escort the two groups up to the area we found Johan, because we'll investigate that a little more for any signs of a murderous giant spider.

So. Who all is in here exactly? With Hermia perched on his shoulder Raioyris shambles on over to the earlier spidery place.

Is Eugenius' group leaving the corpse behind? Hopefully not.

They head over to pack up the camping gear and tents. As for the fourth adventurer, they wrap up her body in her own tent. Amongst themselves, they try to come to a conclusion:
"I say we have enough on our hands," claims Nias.
"But she deserves a proper burial. And it's not too heavy..." Cynthia protests.
"I have a compromise," Eugenius interrupts, holding a flame in his hand. He apparently hasn't lost his magical ability.

Escort the two groups up to the area we found Johan, because we'll investigate that a little more for any signs of a murderous giant spider.

So. Who all is in here exactly? With Hermia perched on his shoulder Raioyris shambles on over to the earlier spidery place.

In the end, Cynthia's pleading wins the others over, and they set the body bag on top of Nias' drones, which quaver in the air, but can bear the load after Nias unhooks the fifty-caliber machine guns. He hands them to Eugenius, whose exoskeleton lends itself to carrying a multitude of heavy items.

Returning to the spider-cave, Gilles, Solj, Johan, Millenus, and Raiyoris count heads and find that the beating, pulsating heart-like thing has yet to be disturbed. It hangs from tendons binding it to the surroundings.

The cocoon that once held Johan, however, is now missing at first glance.
