Any helpful suggestions for my little realm? It seem to be stagnating a bit as of late. Am I doing it right?

It looks like you need more guys building huts, more people mining, more people making bricks, and more people cutting wood.  At least, that's what I would do.

I think these are great challenges. Really balances out the North and the South. It was BS that the South had essentially all the advantages.
Eh, wrong.
Admin turned out to be weaker than I thought and caved in to whiners. Bad sign.

Basically he destroyed Tropical continent he has just created. Half a year it will be impossible to manufacture anything with metal there or even make bricks (stupid). You will only be able to mass produce certain food, but in high temperatures it spoils the fastest, so epic fail again.

If you want the entire continent to be completely balanced then, sure, they are great changes. If you want the game to resemble either the real world or Game of Thrones (where the north is larger in acreage than all the other kingdoms combined) then they are a hasty overreaction that neuters the incentive to colonize the warm new continents.

The combination of optional straw and the temperature changes are huge nerfs to the south. I was making a ton of money from sheep meat and pork and my production of that was cut by 25-30% today. By summer it will be at least halved.

South had "essentially all the advantages." Except spoilage rates and real estate, of course, both of which are quite significant.

That wasn't your approach when people complained about northern woes.

As a Midlands-er, I don't have any woes, lol, just a general malaise for Haradren.

Haradren is fine, btw. I don't get it why people are scared of them.

More a vague sense of dislike.

Montomercy has literally declared a line below which belongs to Haradren, including significant Bay12 holdings. They want to grab as much land as possible--they're the big bad of the game right now. When you're top dog, you're there to be hated. We all felt the same about Pravus before it imploded and became old man Mohandar.

I think they suffer from some really bad pr.
Their line is more like sphere of influence declaration. They don't force people into signing treaties with them and seem not trigger happy at all. If you hate them just because they're top dogs, I guess it's fine. But as a realm they are quite reasonable.
My experience with them is very positive.

Indeed. Tensions have run with them a few times. Overall, they're fairly lethargic--but it is indeed top dog syndrome. Same reason why everyone hates the patriots in American Football.

I have no personal reason to dislike them, but I am extremely wary.

How do we feel about putting gate+walls right around your market square? It looks ugly as sin but boy does it seem effective. Even if someone cracks through your walls they'd have to destroy your entire city* before they could get their catapults close enough to take down that final gate+wall and access your square.

*- Well, I suppose they could clear one low quality house, move there, and then keep bunny hopping closer. Still, it would slow them down and could potentially create opportunities for you to counterattack some catas.
