Nèmber, my second domain's next door neighbour has made contact; seems friendly, I just hope that's genuine friendliness and not a prelude to a hostile takeover since, while Nèmber itself isn't any more advanced than me, their house rules a 10+ domain lordship a short distance to the northeast (I'm right between Nèmber and the rest of the lordship).

The first forge is operational with a toolmaker. The first production run is... better hammers, because they hammers they currently have suck. Next has to be shovels, since it's too expensive to buy crap shovels off the market to train the refiner. The raw iron ore I'm mining is roughly close in quality to the metal I'm buying off the market, so I should be able to make slightly better iron if I properly equip the processors.

If I build a specialization at the forge, does it replace the specialization already there? I'm guessing it does, and I think it was asked already.

Don't forget to get the toolmakers to make themselves some decent knives and pliers too.

But yeah, building one specialisation will replace the existing one.

Hello, if anyone is interested in a southern domain that has the basics developed, contact me. The location is 05259W:17364N

Picked this up to waste time over break, definitely getting "multiplayer DF" vibes. The quality system is annoying, since it encourages the hyper min-maxing that drives me crazy, but that's part of the appeal.

I snagged a second embark near my first that has room for 9 sapphire mines. But in the process of trawling around the map for a possible third, I found some other sites that might be useful. These are just notes on some scratch paper, I can't remember the exact details of each:

Code: [Select]
01062W:23137N - gold and not much else
00531W:24578N - sapphire + ores
00352W:23921N - emeralds + ores
00440W:25885N - emeralds + ores
00938E:26757N - emeralds + sick coastal "estuary"
02347W:17961N - sick coastal gold but large neighbor

So do we have some sort of structure (alliance/kingdom) on Error? I have a domain there and wouldn't mind helping out in some way.

Yes, but they don't keep their old training.  Whatever tools they don't carry over to the new job is lost I believe.

We do have some settlements there, but nothing major as of now. If you want, you can join the discord.

I am 75% sure you do get their equipment back (unlike when issuing new tools) unless there is some other way for me to suddenly get a small cache of low quality tools, that coincides (very roughly, I must admit) with settler training.

House Vandelay has trained its first Architects!  Up until now we were only pretending but now we're the real deal, baby!

In other news, work is underway on a cowshed - not that the weather really facilitates the breeding of cows just now, but the ones we have were cluttering the streets so it'll be good to have somewhere out of the way for them.  Really, we just need it as a prereq for the Tannery, which will then allow us to turn all these bison and reindeer hides into gloves, which in turn will let us train up our nailmaker to start turning the iron we're producing into buildings and money (I mean, we make a fair bit selling the iron itself, but as the market for raw iron is saturated on Error, turning it into things is a lot more profitable).

I also notice that Weissland to our west is now under new ownership and renamed, an extension of the Zandor alliance I believe?

You're Art Vandaley? Great portrait, man. I actually linked to it before because of how spot on it was.

So, anyway. How's the import-export business?
