I'm risking the life of my first heir to claim Jewelstone. Another Lord is actually sitting in the castle, but I should have the time to claim the place before he goes back to the game.

This is what tokens are for. If you know the exact time for claiming, pop in a few seconds before with a token move, then pop off a insta-claim. Then token-move out of danger.

I know but I'll be claiming  the place before I can have more tokens. Anyway it's not that bad if a lose that heir. I'll be more upset by not getting that lordship.

EDIt : Anyway I expect some retaliation if I claim the place and my heir can't really hide since her main domain is near the place anyway.

Are you Gwen? Or Valegro?

Looks like Gwen is going to win!

Gwen

EDIT : It's a race! I think the guy just click on claim and didn't realised I was there, he's not even connected.

If you haven't invested in better swords yet, I'd grab 2 of high quality to switch out once one of you wins it, so you can "defend" yourself ;)

Yes that and keeping good relationship with the Prince of Tepesia and neighbor of Valegro was a good idea on my part too.

And it's done! Gwen Hardskull is now Lady of Jewelstone. And now she's hiding in the barrack with a pair of high quality swords...

That place looks really nice, especially those emeralds. If it wasn't 18 hours march for my Pikemen I'd offer you their services on helping him... vacate the premises.

Hurrah, Vandeland has finished a basic wooden castle, which let me expand my borders to bring in a dense area of 3-4 star spruce (not the best wood type to have, but my newbie self didn't know that when picking a location).

In the meantime I've got 72% quality iron ore coming in, which I reckon I can push up a little more if I rebuild the iron mine with a proper carpenter and throw some sledgehammers and chisels on the miner.  I don't have a proper metallurgist though - I'm too tight-fisted (hey, I'm Scottish :p) to pay the 1400-2000 gold for gloves to train one - so that's only coming out at 55% quality iron.  That's still letting me churn out 65% quality tools though, which is a lot better than the crap we started out with.  And since hunting was introduced I've had spare workers hunting up some hides with the intent of getting basic leatherworking up and running so I can make my own damn gloves (and if I ever get that hemp, I'll make it a proper industry).  Today I hope to get a nail factory built too, to bring in a bit more money than selling the iron itself (plus savings on construction).

I'd like to get a tool factory working soon... I've probably spent like 200-300k on tools for all my units already... I don't have any iron, but copper+tin is a possibility. However looking at iron prices it looks like it would just make sense to import it since it is pretty darn cheap and plentiful. (5.7 million! available at 0.51 , floor is 0.5, can even get 4 star quality at same price, though quantity is lower.)

Yeah, iron is pretty cheap, especially given how little you need to manufacture tools.  I'm gonna be importing it for that purpose on my southern (Goldor) domain as e.g. saws are going for anywhere from 30-400 each depending on quality, but importing the raw materials is only about 2.5 per saw.  Obviously it's faster to just buy the tools, but I've not been playing the liquidation game so I don't have that kind of money yet :p

Meanwhile the brothel is a roaring success. +10 or +11 (with soap) happiness each time a unit consumes something is amazing at keeping happiness in the high 90%s -- on a sunny day that is a +21 bonus! Happinessss!

So effective I have the units in my second domain make the 20 minute round trip for the boost after they finish a job. The time spent walking back and forth is worth having their happiness kept pretty much max all the time.

Eventually I'll have a brothel built at the other domain though. Keeping straight which unit belongs to which domain is getting to be annoying. Especially since my 2nd character is seneschal to the 1st (and thus can order both domain's units around.)

Also need a second 'girl' to give the first a rest between bouts of 'charm' cause she has been really busy.

Okay, now I'm pissed. I just lost a large amount of quality wood overnight because my charcoal burner decided to burn it, despite turning off the automatic labor TWICE now.

EDIT: Speaking of wood, I can plant fruit trees to harvest wood from, right? I don't know what the time to build for them is, but since you can't plant normal trees, I figure I'd get sustainable wood from orchards.

So I made a spreadsheet to help me decide which settlers to assign to which specialisations rather than just eyeballing their stats.  Not sure if it's of any value to anyone else - it's very rough partly cos I'm lazy and partly cos it's quite possibly based on a fundamentally flawed understanding of the game mechanics (or just poor judgement) - but in case it's helpful I've uploaded it to google drive here.  The first tab has explanations and disclaimers in case it's needed.

(maybe someone's already made a better one, but I don't see one - or much for the game in general - on google)

Oh man.
I made my own last night and haven't put the finishing touches to it yet so I haven't posted it yet.
Kudos for posting it :P
